Theres some GCI trademarks but I think recently because GG has gotten into the whole high bank twisty stuff the "trademark" if you will is gone.

I see Gravity Group being as a combined style of CCI and GCI but with more traditional influence (like out and back - pure airtime and lateral). I think if given the chance to do a twisted layout it would be quite different then what we are used to CCI having done in the past.

Still a ton of work to be done.

Yeah after testing this ride, I'd have to say that I completely agree with TConwell.

WOW. <--I think that describes it pretty well.

The ride definately has great speed and insane airtime and laterals, like promised. Also look for one of the strongest and most sustained points of airtime ever seen, plus some insanely steep drops that rival some steel hypercoaster drops.

Nope, havent gotten that far. Itll come to me in the post-production process. Its not being themed - just realistic surroundings is all.

Re-tweaked some trackwork as I found a few wheel hits (not sure how).

Fixed:
Drop from MCB is unbanked 5 degrees - more lats
Few of the turns coming in are more unbanked
Final Helix ending had to be unbanked - now pulls 2.2 lats.

I justify that increase in lateral pressure because its not sudden. The helix starts at about 1.5 and stays there till the pull up where the G's increase. Only over the last 20-30ft does it reach the +2 barrier where it then lets off abruptly.

It would best be described to feel like nothing more than added pressure - no crazy jolts of 2.2 or anything of that nature. Youd already be feeling 1.7ish so the added half a force then released quickly would be nothing more than your partner pushing you to the side a moment then releasing you. Cant imagine with maintained trains it would be a problem.

Hope you all dont mind some laterals :P

nice name, but really, it doesn't flow that well.
"Hey want to go on Into Black? No, that ride sounds like a band name, lets go on something thats easier to say, like Rebel" See, people are gonna go on that ride instead of this ride![lol]

yeah, a good name like gopher in either German, French, or Spanish might be cool! After all, gophers pop in and out of holes, you could also say the same for prairie dogs!

I will name it Into Black just because you guys freak out over a name.

The ones you listed are too long homie. Gopher makes it sound like a kids ride. Into the Darkness? Is this a novel? Black Assassin? No ones getting killed. Darkness Falls? are there water falls in the area? Pitch Black isnt bad but doesnt sit well with me, not sure why. Seems generic - a name that would be used more readily.

The name comes from a song from a band called Disciple. The song is very heavy, very metal and fits the ride perfectly for its chaotic ride but still poetic curves and turns.

Got a problem with the name? Dont ride it ;)

I know, I was interpreting what it felt like to me.

It could be permanant, could be temporary. Of course if I think of something better Ill use it but for now, thats what stands.

I personally dont think a name has anything to do at all with a ride.
Raptor? I think of the dinosaur first, not the "Bird of prey" issue. Millennium Force? What is the force of the millennium? Goliath? Its not really that big.

I could go on and on about names, they rarely reflect the actual ride. I usually prefer one word names but Im running out of good ones that are either - A. not taken B. not going to be taken.

Well, there's always the good old Metallica reference "Blackened", it would fit the ride quite well IMO and, heck, it's a Metallica reference. [:D]

I think Apollo's Chariot's name fits the ride very well. Especially with the myth about going too close to the sun, then diving back to earth etc. I think Goliath was a good name too. When it opened it was the biggest full circuit coaster in the US or world (not sure if fujiyama is taller or not,) so I think that name fits the ride well. B&M's Superman flyers also have a name that works well with the theme of the ride.

Anyways the name isn't as significant as the actual ride so it's not a big issue what you name it. I think Into Black is good but I do think it can be improved on.

But Apollos Chariot - the ride - has not much to do with the name other than the theme. The ride itself is an out and back.

Goliath isnt so goliath, largest coaster in world or not. Its tall, but not too long. Frankly the Flyers are the only thing that represent Superman so for that they work. Not saying all names but only a few I find really represent the ride, not just a theme.

Anyone can theme a ride and give it a name that reflects that. It takes something more to come up with a name that represents the actual coaster.

With that, I leave you with the rides new name:

The Unknown

Call it something with a good ounce of alliteration in it. I'm thinking, The Mighty Midgits Madness! [lol]

TConwell...I was referring to the Apollo's Chariot myth and not Icarus.

According to thrillride.com... The park also revealed that the coaster's theme would be based upon the Greco-Roman myth of Apollo and his celestial horse-drawn chariot, an epic tale that goes something like this: Driving a thundering supernatural herd, the god Apollo was responsible for hauling the Sun itself across the skies. One day, his male offspring Phaethon, in a fit of youthful exuberance, asked to take the chariot out for a joyride and Apollo, against his better judgment, handed him the reins. Sure enough, Phaethon had bitten off a little more than he could chew. Those mighty steeds went berserk and the rampaging chariot, dragging the Sun right along behind, flew high and low, scorching everything in its path. This didn't sit very well with Zeus, Apollo's father and a notorious hothead. The Big Z was so enraged by Apollo's irresponsible behavior that he struck Phaethon dead with a thunderbolt.

Phaethon was hauling the sun, and didn't go too close to it, but I was pretty close. The important part was he lost control and fell toward earth and back up again into the sky, which I think relates to the hills and drops on AC.

Real-I like the new name!
