Since you're just getting started, you should try object creator and anim8or. Just read the manuals and tutorials thoroughly, and be smart when modeling (i.e. don't overlap polygons which causes flickering, don't use more poly's than needed, which means you will often have to go in between cubes or other objects to remove the extra polys. Also, in anim8or, make good use of the material function, don't use an image just for a single color, etc) Also, if you have an image editor program, put it to good use. Think well when texture mapping, etc.

But for now, worry about getting started. The tips are to be practiced when making stuff for your rides, trust me, it'll make things much better.

you think that now, but in the future, you will realize how crappy it is. You see that its not smooth, and full of pumping, and the supports aren't gonna be that good.

3ds are not needed to make a track great. Dont let anyone fool you into thinking you need 3ds. The people who think you need 3ds just are looking for eye candy which is a cheap way to garner a good score.

Remember, no crappy coaster can be made good with 3ds. Only a good stand alone ride will do and if its already that good, leave it alone. You dont need to cover up something that is already so good.

Remeber to put them in a nlpack. It makes it a lot easier for the people downloading.

NoLimits Track Packager (.nlpack)

Object Creator is at the same site, just click the link on the left hand menu.
