Name the top three defunct or SBNO coasters you would like to ride in real life. I don't know if there has already been a topic like this, so I'll take any flak you guys give.

My coasters are all defunct:

1. Mr. Twister
2. Cyclone Racer
3. Crystal Beach Cyclone

Id take that list and add Airplane Coaster. Not many rides had a structure as beautiful as that one.

In light of what has been said, I'm going to add the Zip, and Airplane coaster to my list. That'll make a good top 5. [:)]

I only have 3 coasters that are defunct and sbno that I miss
1.Steel Phantom (You were better than the "Revenge")
2.Steel Dragon 2000
3.Flashback (rougth but cool)

I know everyone says that the Phantoms Revenge is better but in my opinion Mogran ruined the phantom. I don't like shoulder harnesses but I feel the phantoms wern't bad they just needed to be softer. Also the Phantoms Revenge's bunny hills are back killers and it is far worst in the Morgan track then the old Arrow Track.

I would like to ride the Rye Areoplane coaster. Also Mezies I have to disagree with you about the Phantom. I like airtime (even f it is painful, it's still awesome) more than I like headbanging.

Is Steel Dragon 2000 gonna open again/ it has been closed for nearly 2 years... I know why but it should be back up and running.

Wow... Ok, I never rode Steel Phantom, so it wouldn't be right for me to compare these two, but since ALL Arrow loopers in that style/era rode the same, I can assume that it wasn't anything special compared to any other Arrow.

I just rode Phantom's Revenge again about a week ago, and it has everything needed to be a great steel coaster. IMO, I don't think any steel coaster could do what this thing does any better. The bunny hills at the end pull probably about -1.5g EACH and the restraints allow you to be pulled right out of your seat. Back killers? Again, another person who probably doesn't ride coasters knowing how to brace themselves. The transitions are definitely curve to curve with no lead in, so your instantly out of your seat and then slammed down hard (especially that double drop!) but they are only painful if you let your elbow get slammed down right next to the seat (very easy thing to do, I made this mistake several times over the last couple years riding this coaster) or manage to ride limp. Or, you just can't handle anything but a perfectly smooth ride which doesn't seem logical to me since apparently you thought Steel Phantom was fine.

Phantom's Revenge is my favorite Steel coaster and can only be rivaled with Intamin rockets for me. I think its one of, if not the most underrated steel coasters in the US.

The original Steel Phantom was a world class ride, but I have to agree with IF397 about Phantom's Revenge. The feeling on that ride is almost similar to that of a wood coaster because the g's are so extreme. You are thrown out of your seat, in your seat, to the left... everywhere. It has one of the most intense finales of any hypercoaster in existance.

Steel Phantom, on the other hand, was a painful ride. The only part of it that I liked was the 225 ft drop into the ravine, which was and still is one of the best big drops of any coaster. But after that, it was painful beyond imagination. The train pulled almost 5 g's coming out of the drop, which is not very fun in Arrow trains. Then, every single inversion whipped your head banging into the awful Arrow horsecollar restraints with tremendous force. The only coaster that was rougher than the original Steel Phantom IMO was Drachen Fire. However, on the plus side, Steel Phantom did have a great big drop, and all the inversions were taken at much faster speeds than other Arrow coasters. It was a strange combination of pain and coaster bliss.

Now, with Phantom's revenge, you get the bliss without the pain. Enough said.

BTW, here is my top 3 defunct coaster list...

1. Cyclone Racer (the most picturesque coaster ever built)
2. Mr. Twister (John Allen's masterpiece... sadly, ruined by Six Flags)
3. The Steel Phantom

hmmm

1. Crystal Beach Cyclone - Crystal beach
2. Airplane coaster - Rye Playland
3. Mr Twister - Elitch Gardens

That didnt actually take me that long. YAY. [:p]

I haven't ridden the new Twister at Six Flags Elitch's, but just to clarify, Six Flags did not "ruin" Mr. Twister. They might have done something to the new Twister to ruin it. I can't say. But the former owners of Elitch's opted, in the move, not to relocate the original Mr. Twister, and had John Pierce design the new ride apparently "loosely" based on John Allen's coaster. While that was extremely unfortunate, and worse, Mr. Twister was then bulldozed, the former owners were reportedly most helpful in assisting Knoebels to get the Mr. Twister plans for the Knoebels Twister.

And to add my own:

Rye Aeroplane
Cyclone Racer
Zip - at White City in Massachusetts

Twister II at SFEG is an ok ride as far a wooden goes, but I'm sure that there is no comparison between that and Mr. Twister. (Mr. being the better ride). I'm sure most people who have ridden both (sadly not me) would say that this sign is wrong.

Twister II was a very boring ride that just meandered all over the place with HUGE pullouts that pulled almost no force at all. It really just didn't seem like a coaster to me after the first couple drops and turns. Although I haven't ridden Mr. Twister, I heard that the Knoebels Twister (much more accurate to the original than Twister II) wasn't that far behind. Bobcoaster is the only one who could "verify" this though since I think hes the only one on this site who has ridden both coasters.

Intamin, I totally agree about Twister II. I don't know exactly how many wooden coasters are in Colorado but I think that its not the best. The funnest part of the ride, in my opinion, is the first drop. SFEG is not a park someone should go out of their way to visit. It's pretty sad that the only coasters there with original layouts are the arrow shuttle "Sidewinder" and "Twister II."

Edit: Just remembered-The arrow is not an original layout it's the same layout as the one that was at PKI as the Demon. But, the SFEG arrow shuttle is the only one like it running.
