^The Coaster Enthusiast community reeled in 1995 when the original Elitch Gardens closed. To us, hearing that the park was going to modify John Allen's masterpiece and make it "better" was like hearing that someone was going to try to paint over the Mona Lisa to try and make it "better".
If Twister was still operating, it would be in my top 5 list for sure. The ride was an amazingly intense series of drops, laterals, and headchoppers that never gave up from start to finish. It is such a shame that Elitch Gardens completely ruined one of the best wood coasters ever built. It was a similar feeling when the enthusiast community found out that Six Flags was going to modify the banking in a few of the turns of The Comet. Both of these coasters are crying shames of their former selves now. And THIS is one of the main reasons why most of my fellow enthusiasts hate Six Flags. They have no respect for classic coasters.
