yeah, agreed, I skip that ride every time I go to Alton Towers, its hardly the funnest ride to start with, thats without getting your balls crushed by the restraints.

I dunno if this counts as restraints, but I hate the seats on Shockwave at Drayton Manor, every time I've been on it the thing has bosted me knackers on that first corkscrew, because all it is is this little bit of crap that sticks in between your legs, don't think it was designed for blokes [lol]

Yeah its like a metal pole between your legs with the minimum amount of padding possible. LOL.

The restraints on Submission are bad.

Hey I just found something out. You know how we were all saying OTSR are the bad ones well I just found out we are calling them the wrong name!

The OTSR are the ones found on B&M rides. Those are the ones with that bump between your legs to stop you moving too much. They are not the ones I think we all mean!

The Horse collar is the ones we hate!!!!

They are the ones found on Arrow and Vekoma coasters like the Corkscrews!

I only just found this out on Coaster Force I didn't know myself.

The terror rack is at a small park near me, called Pleasure island cleethorpes, and i must say its the most fearsome topspin i have ridden, or seen. I have a video clip of its cycle but have nowhere to upload it. Lets just say in one part, the seats are at the bottom near the station, then the whole car swings right over upside down and stops upside down. Then the arms take you right up to the top still hanging upside down and then right back down to the bottom again, before flipping you over a few times. It hangs you upside down for so long with these crappy little restraints that dont fit anyone. They are them shared restraints, you know, the ones where you have like a tiny OTSR to yourself which is rock hard and doesnt fit, and then just a metal bar enclosing five of you together. its so uncomfoartable, and instead of being too tight, its far too loose. Yes i like loose restraints sometimes, but on this i didnt, it was too far, especially for the type of ride. LOL.

Best restraints are those on air. They are so comfy and for the type of ride style it suits it so much. I havent had much experience with many lap bars so cant really say.

Looks nice, a forced roll top spin, never thought they were real after seeing them in rct2 [lol]

also why doing so hard on waiting till the video is loaded on putt-file, just download it them imediatly to your pc:

I don't know why you people complain so much about restraints. They all feel the same to me. I seriously hate when enthusiests bicker about the restraints, because they really don't do much. Even on the Intamin T-Bar system, your butt can still fly into the air so you can feel the air time.
stand up restraint with the bycycal seat under you

Thats because your an idiot[lol] But seriously, if it hurts you that bad, what you do is before they lock down the seats, squat with your legs bent a little, that way when they lock, you can stand up without having that thing touch you (It doesn't work though if you are tall, though.)

No ones really complaining about them properly, its just what we think is bad or not, its not that i wouldnt ride a coaster/ride cos it was slightly uncomfy.

no I'm not saying you, I'm talking about people who say, "Hey, that sucks that Kingda Ka has OTSR system, man that totally ruins the ride." It's that kind. And this topic just made me want to say that.[lol]

Any type of ratcheting lap bar (at least 95% of coasters have them today and all steelies do) pretty much ruin the potential for fun on a ride. There's obvious safety issues on the steel coasters, but if they could put fixed lapbars on all woodies, the fun would be increased exponetially.

There is a way to bypass a little of the ratcheting on a woodie. Just lift your torso up and when the ride op's press the bar down, keep it up. Then you can let it down and enjoy a little bit more freedom.

The worst restraints in my mind our TOGO's combos and Intamins OTSR. TOGO's make you feel that you are going to be broken in Half. Intamins (KK) kill your neck on the twist.

Well, on the PTC ratcheting lap bars I have at least 3 inches of clearance, but there's another problem I forgot to mention in my previous post, seat dividers. The ytake sooo much of the coaster away imo. I love the thunderbolt at KW because of this. You pull like 1.3 lats on the bottom of the drop off the lift, but you slam into your partner (no single riders because of this). It's insane fun (unless you're getting crushed then it's only slightly less fun).

"Please seat the larger person to whatever side the train is turning. Thank you."

I agree, seat dividers suck.

How can you complain about Intamin's OTSR's? You can barely even feel them on Storm Runner at least.

I agree, seat dividers suck.

I disagree, its more comfortable. Plus when your riding with your friend who is a guy, its less akward, unless you like that sort of thing, then when your riding with a friend who is a girl, its akward and that sort, and vice versa for the females in the audience.

I revoke my comment. Seat dividers are ok. And you are right, they do keep people out of awkward situations.

There is one thing I forgot to say. I hate seatbelts! But only when a tougher restraint is needed. On the Wild Mouse at Blackpool because of the lats you fly left and right at high speed. And there is well not too much padding on the mouse. So you can imagine a seat belt in no help. Adding to this my Dad cracked his rib on this ride along with another guy who I met in the queue for Big Dipper.

You cant feel them on Rita either, well until on the first airtime hill, and then you are rocketed into them, but they still give so much room, that its fine. They are comfy aswell, you dont even feel them going into the turn straight after the launch, which i thought would be the place where i might suffer a bit of head banging or something.

the zipper lapbars are awesome. its a big, squishy pad across your lap and thats it. i hated the restraints on the Looping Starship at SFoG. the lapbar came down really tight but loosened up. i could handle that. but the OSTR was HORRIBLE. it was hard as steel and dug into your chest, a place an OSTR should not be. it also did not hold in place like other OSTRs so throughout the ride it would keep locking down more, leaving you pinned in place and unable to breathe properly. i think they over did the restaints on these rides.

Same here. When I was really little I went on a tiny coaster at a carnival, and since it was my first coaster I had ever been on I thought I was going to fly out because I didn't think the lapbar was going to hold me in.
