That layout looks like it's full of airtime in those first couple hills. Looks interesting, I'll look for updates

I accually liked the B&M style drop, but it's up to you, the straighter drop seems more intamin like, but seeing the rest of you're layout it looks more of a B&M style track.

It does? It reminds me more of Expedition GeForce with the 2 turns laid up against each other. Plus the hills look much more Intamin-ish.

I'm going with the twisty drop. The coaster was designed that way and the track fits in a smaller area.

Also. If anyone has any general tips about where I should use the 4,3,and 2 tube tracks it would be appreciated.

Use 2 tubes from the breaks to the start of the lift and have the supports pretty close together.

any considerably tall portion and over banks should be 4 tubes. Or at least if any considerable force is exerted on the track, there should be 4 tubes.

Form the looks of it, it should all be 4 tubes until just after the last overbank where it should go to 3 tubes.

Unless your hills are really huge, use 3-rail on portions of the track that generally dont turn or generate large lateral forces. Yes, the riders may not feel it, but that it doesnt mean the track isnt feeling the lateral motion.

Generally I use Quad-rail for the lift and to mid drop, then I switch to tri rail if its not twisting. If it is twisting, then switch at the bottom of the hill.

Overbanks and turns that will generate larger forces on the track in more than one direction should use quad track.

Areas that dont fit into those 2 areas - basically anything slower and more drawn out can use 2-rail but you need ALOT of supports. See the SROS clones at Darien Lake and SFA.

Thanks for the help.[:)] Would it be realistic for me to have the start of a camelback be 3 tube and have the top be 4 tube? Later on today I'll have another screenshot in the editor of the track that you guys can make comments on. This picture should be bigger and have more detail.

If the section would be small, no. Remember, it should cost more (cost plays a roll in the way they do it) to make the 4 tube since theres more steel there but you use less supports. I say only switch to 3 tube if you plan to use it for more than a few hundred feet.

yeah, you should also look at pics of EGF as its a good representation of switching back and forth from quad to 3 rail.

I think that this is another screen. Here is my work so far with the different track tubes. If this is not clear enough, then I'll post a larger image on Nldc. As you can see the overbanks are 4 tube and so is the front and end of the first hill. If there is anywhere else you think needs 4 tube track post where here. I'm probably also not going to have any two tube track except for the area around the station. My track will need to be stronger than that in most places.

^You......[devilish]

The drop is staying. There's no changing that. Maybe when I'm done with Cobalt I'll do another mini hyper with a different drop.

Coaster, let him design his own freaking coaster you already gave youre opinion. [xx(] The track looks great though woodie, though you may just want to do a double check on the smoothness, the bottom of the first drop going up the first hill looks like a sudden change in direction which is good when it's done right. Lookin forward to it!

I need someone to run my track through the smoother. I might be able to use this really cruddy pc in the house for that.

Pretty soon I'll begin phase 2. Supports will go up and the track will be sent to people who want to comment on it. With good luck, this will be my best steel coaster.

Edit: It seems that I can't eliminate my pumping problems. This thing pumps really badly. Maybe someone who is good at handbuilding and has some time could give me some help with my coaster. I'm just not that good at pump elimination. I know I've been asking for a lot of help, but I really want the end product to turn out great.

I'm going to do a major rebuild of the track. Hopefully I can eliminate some pumping issues. The layout should remain relatively similar.

Edit: I've begun the new layout. Turns are made with elementary this time. The layout has also been edited.
