they are, but they're usually twisty, and you don't usually have to go through all the turnstiles, though, and all of the path, ect.

another thing to add: turnstiles to the zig zags, so we can open an extra zig zag when it's nessesary and not that they always have to go through all the zig zags to reach the ride entrance [:)]

edit:

This topic really turns into another wishlist for rct3 [lol]

I was thinking I might be a good idea to add turnstiles too. There is no sense in forcing people to walk through the whole line if the wait is very small.

they do suck, all they want to do is game, not test and find the bugs.

You also have to take into acount who this game is marketed to. I'm pretty sure the dominant factor of players is around age 13 to 18. So I understand why they do have 13 year old beta testers. But for the most part the average age should be at least 16 just based off of maturaty.

Dude, stop with the ages, 14 yr olds can provide better feedback than 18 yr olds if they have more experience with the testing, or just with computers in general. (I.E. picture an 18 yr old who doesn't even convert their screenshots to jpg and resize it appropriately when submitting bugs) Sure, most 18 yr olds can provide better feedback, but that's no reson for age discrimination. (if they do that, people are going to lie to get in like they do with CS.)

As for testing, it's going pretty well for me, some nice new features, but still a lot of bugs out there to report.

When I beta tested for Tiger Woods 2003 they required that I was over the age 16 or 18 (cant remember) and that I printed and signed a NDA form stating I was proficient with the computer and how to find and report bugs. I then had to FAX that form to EA headquarters before I was sent the game in stages in next day air envelopes.

To me, thats real beta testing. When you are just allowed in and to download, it just shows that Atari isnt really with it yet.

As to being "ageist" I would have to agree. Theres more to Beta testing than just playing it and going "This is cool!" then listing a half dozen things you dont like and dont work.

I actually found Beta testing to be more like a job than fun. You arent supposed to just play the game without analyzing it. You need to pay very close attention to everything you do so you can report it. If not, it was all a waste.

Its when you get to try a game before it is released and report bugs

You give assistance to the game designers by helping them test the software.

Beta testing is what program makers do to test their software. They usually give so many people the oportunity to use their product before it is officially released. They do this becuase A. People not involved in the programing of any given program tend to notice more things then those who wrote the code and B. It offers a wide range of computer specs for a program to be tested on. Most game companies get to test it on top of the line computers. Beta testing provides test results from any given range of computers.

During this time the user is supposed to pretty much try and break it. If they do succeed the user tells them exactly what they did in order to break it. Beta testing for video games involves alot more information gathering about balance and graphical issues.

In RCT3 the user is probably supposed to test new attractions and how different application of these attractions effect how peeps react.

But in the end it should be the beta tester comunicating with the dev team.

I hate the 3D graphics, the RCT 2D graphics had a charm to it. If a game is going to be 3D, I expect it to look so real that if you make a video of it, it looks like real life, like totally real life down to every possible detail. The fake looking graphics of RCT2 were alright, they should have made another expansion pack to enclude water-parks, new rides, new coasters, new paths, etc.

I'm just ranting on aboot nothing...... bedtime.

Well NL doesn't really look photorealistic either. [rolleyes smiley here]

Beta is mostly DL the game, play it, and report bugs. There are ways to get as many bugs as you can, by doing weird things, but also, playing "normally" can get you across a few as well. But you gotta be the type that looks into every detail, and do experiment once in a while. As for the knowledge thing, I remember recently someone there didn't know about the LOD settings (as many of you know, they get set to defauts for the system you run) as going to report a "bug" about everything looking blocky when the cam goes away lol.

not to mention how much it would lag to have several thousand people running around with several thousand polies, themselves. And don't get me started on the textures. You know how much it lags on Phyters low poly stuff, then just imagine what it would do on RCT 3.

I don't understand why they don't build the 2d feature back into the game. It would be much better to build rides in the old 2d mode than it is in the 3d.

yea i really like the 2d better because the scenery objects / walls and roofs look better. And i really dont think they would do that because it would be really hard to program them both in

You can set the camera to function exactly as in RCT1+2 you know!

(Look in your options for RCT3[:)])

I hope we dont have 100 13 year olds kids beta testing again. First they suck at beta tester and second they think they are all of a sudden that much cooler that they are beta testing

Hey Hey Hey, most 13-14 year olds do, but i am fourteen, and i dont feel the same way, i dont know if you all remebered when Aol 9.0 came out, but i was a beta tester, and told them some errors to fix, like with windows xp when you launched aol 9.0 it rebooted your computer, ETC, but now i am smarter and canceled are membership with aol.

Well acctually I am talking about beta test for xbox/ps2/gamecube games that you dont keep but you come to place they let you play for an hour and then tell about all bugs and feedback (like beta test focus group combined)
