Hey, this is a bad thing, lately it seems, more and more coaster tracks, are being stolen, more often. I dont understand why, but that people need to realize that it is wrong, i dont know if its because schools back in, people dont have time to make their own, or if its just a popularity contest, to see who has the most coasters. As you may know this is "plagiarize," which means "To use and pass off (the ideas or coaster building of another) as one's own." - Dictionary.com

This problem needs to stop so members, either coroperate, or be Banned![devilish]

Lets Respect [worship] WeeWeeSlap![worship]

I stole a track once, it was dumb. It was a good coaster though[lol]

I hate how people use the "it was my brother" thing, and they think they'll never get caught. I learned from experince.

i think, before being banned afcourse, members should be allowed to explain why they did it,
on cs.com, you're getting an instant ban, and your emails wont be anwered if you try to explain...cos i once uploaded a track from my brother, the one i got NL from(plus some coasters), which he stole,
he stole the Limit from the trackpack, renamed it to FX/Erazor, and said it was his, so i changed it into elcondor and uploaded it.
And about a day later i was banned, lucky for me i still've got a backdoor to cs.com, so i can still download tracks and stuff

If you look at who actually steals the tracks, it is usually the newer members who don't realize that people who upload to one site also visit other sites.

the thing they got to learn is that when they steal it they think no one will know but at least one of the thousands of wws members will know and report it. the ones who dont know will still be able to tell and ask some peeps. just the stealers are idiots.

What excuse can you come up with that isnt already covered in the ToS or by lifes natural laws? (Dont lie, dont steal, etc)

I cant think of a single instance where that should happen. The excuse that your sister or brother or cousin or half-brothers-in-law uploaded it is worthless. Even if they did, sorry. You shouldnt save passwords for websites when more than YOU use that single computer.

But coming from you hyyyper, its no suprise. Coming from someone who doesnt care about cheating, lieing or stealing, why are you even posting here? (all those things apply by getting into cs when you shouldnt)

lot of people know that i did spam and steal long times ago. I'd was spamming and i didn't knew what spamming was, and like all other stealers i thought that peeps would be stupid enough to not reconize the track. Well... I learned my lesson after that long ban over here and at coastersims.

The moral of my story:

Don't under-estimate weeweeslappers!

I just don't understand why people would steal a track anyway. Come on, people work so hard on a track and then some idiot steals it. Thats just wrong!!!! I respect the people who make the tracks I wouldn't steal even for a hundred bucks.

^Seriously, I can't even steal a dollar from my brother without feeling really guilty. Also, it is so much more fun to work hard on your creations so that you can feel good about yourself when people give them good ratings.

I bet another thing that fuels stealing is feeling jealous that your tracks aren't as smooth or get ratings as good as other people's tracks. You would take someone elses track and pass it off as your own in order to make it seem like you were a good designer.

Yea, thats the reason. But could that be because theres too much press on having status here? And what would cause that? (probably preferential treatment towards those designers)

Is having or gaining the acceptance of an online crowd worth stealing? Is it really worth that much at all?

When we say "Stealing," we mean the whole track! Also, i dont know if stealing an element is a part of stealing, i would consider it as "stealing," but if you wanted that element really bad you could probly ask the creator to use it, of corse with proper credit.

^Exactly.

I spend so much time designing my tracks that if I see an element I created, I will know it instantly. If you did even take a single element from one of my tracks, Im not going to hunt you down and kill you but I will chain you to a pipe, in a crawlspace.

Actually, I do not condone taking elements. Many people spend lots of hours getting their elements, just right. So in the very least, if you wanted to use it, just ask permission.

However, 9 times out of 10 the element wont fit into your ride unless you create the exact same entrance and exits with the same radius for both. That, is fairly rare.

A few months ago on thrillnetwork, I uploaded frenzy forest, and the contest required an inverted coaster. I didn't pay attention to the g forces and assumed they fitted the limits. Someone downloads it, and without selecting the right environment also notices tree crashes. And so he accuses me of stealing. The g forces part was my fault for not watching it, the trees part was rather funny... (in other words, too many people never use the track default feature, whether they're riding a track or making a track with an env and not selecting it)

^^^ I would consider stealing not just with whole tracks, but parts of people's work without their permision (like taking a terrain texture from someone's ride). I usually like to do everything myself anyways, but earlier, I did use prefabed elements with the game and even the canyonrunner bridge one time, but they both came with NL so I didn't really care. But I don't feel comfortable using them anymore. (maybe the prefabs are ok, but they don't let you create your own feel for the ride)

I myself won't really mind that much if a texture or element is taken, but I'd at least liked to be notified of it. If it's the whole track, then I'll pull out my knife.

I think it should be an instant ban.

I agree, but, I think it should be a temporary ban for first offenses, along with an email. For second offenses it should be a permanent ban.
I once stole half of a track (wans't on this site, though). I saw a track that I liked, and then I cut out important details from it that would make it stand out as that owners track, then I re-did parts of it so it was slightly better, and I knew it was wrong, but I think the reason people do it is because they're frustrated, and when you steal a track that does well, (as long as you've added stuff to it, and "improved" on it) it raises your self esteem. Although, there are better ways of doing it, and I don't reccommend barowing track without permission, and even then, you should try to learn on your own. Buster has a whole tone of elements you can use to help you improve.

But what kind of warning do you need? I think for an entire track theft, it shouldnt even be questioned or answered. You could if want, respond. But, even by the age of 10-12, isnt "stealing" pretty easy to determine? If not, shame on the parents or guardian. It should be VERY clear to anyone by that age what stealing is.

So I think for any clear instances of stealing, there should be no excuse. Its not like you can go commit grand theft auto (not the game) and walk away with a slap on the wrist.

this is the sort of thing I hope is taken with an Iron fist. Other things, eh, not so harshly. But there should be no room for anything like this. You steal a track, you dont come back. If you dont know what stealing is by then, you probably shouldnt be on the net. Not going to help.

I think its pretty funny that in the midst of this topic a fake Phyter comes on.

I would also like to commend the moderators and/or admins for getting this problem taken care of so quickly

If the fake Phyter is banned would that satisfy you Real?

Only matters what satisifies the Administrators. Its just in my own belief that there isnt any excuse for actions such as those.

Same here. You can think for yourself, you don't need mommy and daddy to tell you stealing is bad at 12 yrs old. I personally think you shouldn't even be on these sites when your 12 unless you have good people skills.
