October 25th 2010 - DippieDoe
DippieDoe is one of the smaller parks in The Netherlands. After a morning visit to another small park in The Netherlands me and a buddy decided to drive to this one. I already visited this park back in 2008 so it wasn't really new for me. But since they are building a new coaster for the 2011 season. A nice chance to check out the construction progress!
After paying 9 euros entry fee. We walked into the tiny but fun park. The park doesn't have much to offer. It has an indoor area with some gentle rides like a Zamperla Rockin' Tug or a big wave slide. There is also a nice area outside. On coasters you can find a Zierer Tivoli Medium in the park and the new Zierer Comet which is still under construction. Real thrill rides aren't there in the park, but they have a cool drop tower which drops you like 15 times on different ways. So still good fun! For the rest there is only a swinging ship and a bunch of gentle rides outside. So it's a real family park.
That's the closest you can get from the new coaster without going beyond any fences.
In the small Ferris Wheel you can also get a nice view of the coasterpart.
That's the Zierer Tivoli Medium in the park.
Wow, when we wanted to get out. There was a massive queue for the Ferris Wheel!
Scary dragon in front of it... It rotates his head 360????????? non-stop.
The new coaster in the distance. Taken from the swinging Ship.
Time for a ride on the Zierer. Always fun. [:)]
Wheee!
Another Lap so that means another time down the first drop.
Bas approves! (For the idiots, that's not Bas/Hyyyper from here.)
After a while hanging around in the park I wondered if it was possible to get closer to the coaster. Time for a walk to the entrance and see if I could get permission for a walk up closer. After a short talk and a phone call later, One of the executive board came up to us. After a greet and a talk we got permission and a staff member that walked up to the ride with us!
Take a look, that's the new ride for 2011. Looking gorgeous with that paint.
These are the cars. They are going to travel through the track in trains of 2 cars. In total they have 3 trains on the track.
3 Trains and no storage.
After we walked around the coaster for a bit the staff member asked if we had some requests. Well, it's always fun to being able to walk to the top of the lift so we can shoot some pictures from that spot. He had to give a call to his boss first but after that call we got the permission. Wow, that's cool!
Time to go up this 36ft lifthill.
This is the anti-rollback for the cars.
And that's the view from all the way on the top. Finally, a bit of an overview of the layout!
As proof that we've actually been there on the top. [pshades]
That is going to be a toilet building. The park doesn't have an toilets outside yet so it's a tactical move.
Under the first drop.
One motor that propels all the drive-tires.
Well, after that walk underneath the coaster. On top of the lift, and around the coaster. We got the question again: "Any more requests?" Well, since we already got so many permission in so many places, we asked: "Maybe it would be awesome to take some shots of the MCBR's?". He had to do another call just to be sure but apparently it wasn't a problem at all. Time to get next to the brake runs!
The last brakerun is tilted a bit sideways. Just so the laterals wouldn't get to high when going on and off the MCBR.
Also from this brakerun you'll have another nice overview of the coaster layout.
A climb later. We're standing on an higher brakerun. Probably the best brakerun for overviews that work with the sun.
Time for another groupshot. I guess Bas was still dreaming.
The road off the 3rd MCBR.
It won't happen very often that you can climb these stairs. The staff member that guided us was still on top the the MCBR.
Drive tires from the Final brake to the station.
Only 2 wheels to clamp this car onto the rails.
And there we are, on the 2nd MCBR.
The box that controls the brakes.
That's our final goal, get onto the first MCBR of the coaster.
Don't leave me up here, I'm join ya of course!
Before we got to the first MCBR. We had to climb a ladder to the roof of the toilet building. We don't mind at all, more cool angles!
That looks like a fun tiny drop.
After climbing the last and most wobbly stairs we arrived to the center of the coaster.
Loads of track underneath us.
Back down on the roof still some nice opportunities for some nice shots.
Station area. Yes, it's not much but then again. It's not a huge park.
Oh, look. I guess that's going to be the new name: "Tyfoon"
Bye tyfoon, see ya in 1,5 month!
Next to the coaster is also something being build. A look up close gives us a guess that it's probably something like a water obstacle course...
I guess we won't know until it's finished.
I'll close the TR with this overview picture from the mini-droptower.
I want to send out a big thanks to the park for letting us so close on the rollercoaster. So thank you Dippiedoe! You'll probably see us coming back on December 18th, when Tyfoon opens! [:)]
