Pyrotecnico Job -- Behind the Scene Pics!!!!!

I recently just got a job with the Pyrotecnico company, a firework company... I am leaving in about an hour for my first show. If you will be in Florence Kentucky go see the fireworks tomorrow, I will be setting them off, I will post some other shows.

I know I am going to do the Portage Lakes (in Ohio) fireworks on July 1st and I will be in West Virginia for their fireworks too.

I just got back from my first show and all I can say is wow! This show was all hand launched and being a foot away from the launch barrel when they take off is awesome. I can't describe the feeling but if you?????????re in the stand and you think its loud your wrong... We had heavy duty head phones and it was still 3 times louder than the stands. Another thing when you launch one, all the ashes fall on to you, you cant tell if you have burnt your self or if it was just a hot ash... I happy I came back with all my limbs. The show was at Window Field at Florence, Kentucky.

I will have the show dates that I will be at on Monday or Tuesday. And I took pictures with my phone, I will upload those later.

And yes, we will be Chicago... Not sure when.

I know I said I was going to have the dates earlier but I just found out about an hour ago.

Thursday 6/28- 6:00am Setup Portage Lakes show
5:00pm Leave for Florence, Kentucky

Friday 6/29- Florence, Kentucky show

Saturday 6/30- St. Charles, Illinois show

Sunday 7/1- Marian, Illinois show

Monday 7/2- Tear down Portage Lakes show

Tuesday 7/4- Charleston, West Virginia show

If you can make it, tell me how it was. I want to know what you thought and I have no clue what it looks like because the shows are mostly hand fire and I spend my time lighting the fireworks and ducking.

A little explanation to how my trip is going...

I live in Akron, Ohio, We had to drive to Florence, Kentucky (Window Field, Freedom Baseball team) we left midnight on Thursday. On the way there about 4:00 in the morning we were stopped by a weigh station, our company is #2 in firework industry so it is a very busy time and they just threw the racks and fireworks on the truck, it was overloaded 1200 LBS on the rear axel. So we moved everything, took about an hour. We passed inspection and got to Kentucky at 6:00am Friday morning and slept for 2 hours. We left that morning to drop a show off, ended up getting in a wreck. Product (fireworks) was all over the road. We then picked everything up and got a new truck, made it to Window Field in Florence, Kentucky at 6:05pm we setup the show which normally takes 3 guys 7-8 hours and it took me and my boss 2.5 hours. During the show my boss lit a firework, a spark flew into a taped off tube with a firework in it, it was upside down. It bounced out of the tube and exploded on the ground in front of him. No one got hurt... Then 2 sparks flew into my shoes and almost caught my sock on fire, instead it just got burnt. We then picked up and left for the hotel. We left Saturday morning for St. Charles Illinois. we shot off at a golf resort, the membership fee there was $80,000. we shot there no problem. packed up and left for Marian, Illinois. We shot at Miners Field, at the end of a Orchestra concert. that went well then we drove all night to home and picked up the portage lakes show. And now I am leaving for West Virginia for a show tomorrow.

^^That it a 3 inch shell, normally what we use in the finale.

^Ya we launched from a cemetery... that was Charleston, West Virginia. Thats where the city told us to go... It was very strange.

This saturday I will be shooting a show in Pennsylvania (I dont remember the city) and then on Sunday I will be shooting at the Medina County Fair in Ohio... The worst place to shoot fireworks!
