[V] It's a sad, sad day for British football and football as a collective as today it lost a hero. George Best, possibly the greatest player ever to have graced the field, has lost his long battle with illness and died today around noon.

The Manchester UTD and Northern Ireland legend, born in Belfast, wanted to be remembered for his skills and triumphs on the football pitch and not for the frail figure of a man that he became off it. I, along with everyone else, will wholeheartedly participate in the 1 minute silence before all of the games tomorrow, around all of the grounds. My thoughts will be with his parents, who have realised the nightmare of outliving their child, and my thoughts also go out to the rest of his family and freinds.

Although, a few of you won't know who George Best is, or was, I don't think you'll begrudge me paying my own little tribute to him here.

R.I.P. George Best, 22nd May 1946 - 25th November 2005

Today we lost a part of football, forever.

I mean actually football, although you would have me know different.

FN, yeah he is. After he finished playing football, and infact for quite some time while he was playing, he had a severe drink problem, which is why he started to become ill in the first place as it left him frail and weak. I didn't dwell on that too much though, because I really don't want that to be what he's remembered for.

To hell with you! You know why it's called football? Because people kick a ball with thier feet, hence foot and ball. Now lets look at the American version which involves, throwing a ball to each other and running with it with minimal amount of foot to ball contact. The guy who invented American football, obviously was not an intelligent guy...but that goes in hand in hand with dumb ass jocks aswell i guess, there's obvioulsy a link

As for Geore Best, RIP he was a good guy and great football. Shame he has been plagued by the mass rape of the seriously uneducated media over the past couple of years

^ agreed, I really do hope he is not remembered for the later years of his life, really I do. I will remember him as the greatest player ever to have played in this country, if not the world, I'm sure Pele wouldn't mind me saying that.
