Hey guys, i'm looking to get a some-what decent video camera, or camcorder as some call them, and was looking for some recommendations. There are a few features I want/need it to have, for example:
-Long recording times
-1080 HD ability
-be able to rest it on a surface, some cams are shaped funny
-Mac compatible

I've got a decent camera for taking photos so thats not necessary. I'm looking for something less that ?????????400.

Cheers!

this is the camcorder i use and have done for 12 months and it only cost me ?????????229
its a DV camcorder so uses a DV tape which i purposly went for as in my experience gives a better picture qulity and imporved playback over hard drive and memory card
it has full 1080HD recording
can record for 4 hours on a single tape
it has a flat bottom but if you want to do it propally a small tripod is very inexpensive
i got this from currys so had a pack of 5 tapes, case, tripod and 3 years warrenty so the overall total was ?????????275

ohh and this has been on over 200 rides so is very very robust

sweet, very nice. But how will I get along with putting stuff on my iMac?

found this after looking at some top10 sites. I often get STUFF magazine which had this at forth position, the top 3 where between ?????????800 and over a thousand!

stuff mag, gadget show mag there all the same showing off the very expensive stuff or are payed to say its best

as with most camcorders they dont come with saftwere so you will use apples video editing sweet to transfer it from your camera to your Imac,
the one i had came with a lead from the camcorder to USB and a much better fire wire to video card used in conjunction with pinnical (now used with adobe video and adobe after effects)

in other words your mac with allready have the softwere on it so there isnt any need to fret. you can buy better softwere (as mentioned above) for your mac if you so choose but the apple video editing is not bad IMO.

I recently got the JVC Everio GZ-HD620. It records in 1080p and has a 120GB hard drive which gives me 11 hours 4 minutes of recording at maximum quality. It comes with a remote and has up to 30x optical/200x digital zoom. Newegg had it for $479, but I got it new-in-box on Ebay for $355 from the seller elro-family. He has been selling this model for such a cheap price for a while now. The camera's menu and functions are laser-touch operated, and it already comes with the necessary USB and video cables.

$355 = ?????????223.27

500 - 223.27 = 276.73

How can you honestly think that you'd pay ?????????276.73 in postage when it's more than the camcorder itself?

Are JVC any good? I've never thought much of them as a manufacture. There is a Toshiba one out there offereing 1080p and a 65gb built in harddrive although It just looks tacky, made from cheap plastics.
