I personally think Rocky Mountain Construction's technology's are ruining the wooden coaster. What do you feel?

Well, looking at it from a park's view, it's very understandable. Older wooden coasters are getting worse and worse every year, and if this is a way to make them smoother, why not?

You cant say they are damaging the "classic" wooden coaster until you ride one before then after they do a re-furb. (Cyclone/Rattler)

That said, if I get back to SFNE (doubtfull) this year, I'll have an opinion but now I dont have one.

I don't think people complaining about this realize that the parks deciding to hire RMC are probably considering scrapping these rides entirely. If topper track saves a coaster from being demolished (or at least allows the park to keep it running for a few more years) then I'm all for it.

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what kind of difference this makes for Cyclone at SFNE this summer.

I think it's great that they are reviving coasters that have gone to poop. I look forward to seeing this on the Boss someday IF it doesn't continue to run as well as it did last season.

RMC is a great example of a new company coming in a making an impressive mark in the coaster industry! I can't wait to see more works on the future from them! It's great because now GCI has a competitor in the coaster market for refurbishment.
Oh, were you expecting something here?

They helped favricate el toro so i like them. Their tracks are innovative, but they dont need to be on ALL wooden coasters imo. They are great for rough wooden coasters though.

While the classic woodie has that rattling, shaky feel to it, we have to remember that it was due to limited technology. Nowadays woodies can be laser cut and heartlined perfectly, resulting in a smooth ride rivaling a steel hyper yet retaining the woodie look. The simple fact of the matter is that a steel track allows for many more possibilities. While nostalgia is a nice thing, we can't always cling to the edifice of a technologically inferior past.

i think they have a fantastic idea, yes we still need woodies but coasters beyond the point of keeping this is giving them a new life. yes there will always be classic but this is a great market and could really go along way

The topper track is actually a good idea.

I didn't even notice this until someone pointed it out, but American Eagle has the exact opposite of topper track (from the first drop to the helix).

Only the top two layers of the track are wood. the rest is a steel beam.

I personally don't like them because They are a park's excuse for having badly maintained their ride. Parks need to realize that, although woodies are a cheaper down investment, they are more expensive overall and require twice the maintinence.

If this happens to Boulder Dash, I am officially going to kill my self. I am going to fly out and ride it during its last operating day before the poop happens and lay down on the tracks, but first I will right a letter so people don't sew the park.

Why would BD need RMC to refurbish it when GCI already made the ride better?

No, because RMC's goal is to make wooden coasters so more people can ride and enjoy them, and so they last longer. That is not the goal of those who modded the car in your picture. Completely different.

The only problem is that their coasters with Ibox track are referred to as wooden coasters when they are not. They aren't wooden coasters any more than Gemini at Cedar Point is a wooden coaster. If the track is steel, it's a steel coaster. Pure and simple. Topper track is definitely up for debate, though.

Yes, RMC is ruining the wooden coaster.
ANd Boulder Dash is "famous", it won't get changed, its not Six Flags, it's like how CP will never touch MF.

^ Nope, I didn't type anything wrong.

I am saying what you said, Boulder Dash is famous because it is wooden, so it will never get touched or changed.
The same can be said with MF, it is famous for being one of the best steel coasters in the world, so CP would never think to touch or change it.

Why is RMC being known as a bad thing for wooden coasters? To be honest, the only reason why people are complaining is because RMC renovated Colossus and Cyclone... People who have never ridden the rides are thinking they are gold for what they are. Well let me tell you one thing, Cyclone was at a constant 10mph for almost 70 percent of the ride.. Idk about colossus, but thats pretty slow from the POV's too. RMC is restoring coasters that are meeting their demolition point. It isn't ruining wooden coasters, its saving them in a new fashion. I do agree though that rides like El toro, Boulder Dash, and The Voyage DO NOT need to be RMC'd, as they are good as is

RMC fully acknowledges that the Ibox track is a steel coaster. They do consider the topper track to be wooden, but I'm kind of the fence about it.
