Same. It looks like RCT3 redux and not in a good way. According to PC Gamer they've overhauled roller coaster creation, somehow I don't think this bodes well either. Still hoping for the best, but expecting the worst.

An upgrade? Maybe. But an upgrade that would take 10 years? No way.

Well... NL2 took 8 years and look at the product it came out with.

I think the Atari team thought about RCT4 probably for a few years after RCT3, but then I'm sure they dropped the idea and left it to die for the last 5 years. And then they probably picked the idea up again and that is the product we will see in 2015.

Ole did state that NL2 could have been released two years sooner if it wasn't for his personal health issues.

aparently the game uses a spline system for the coasters. hopefully it will be easy to build coasters.

That whole games despite its flaws is really an achievement when you factor the scant number of workers involved.

It's true, only 3 people working with only 1 full time on the project and 2 part time, only 6 years. Not really bad in my book.

Couldn't have described it better myself!

I agree with this too. It's definitely not a mobile game. I don't exactly know what some people were looking for, but if they can bring back some of the original RCT-style gameplay that made RCT "fun" instead of the "tons of features, but not really 'fun'" that I feel like RCT3 was, it would be great.

TPS is a good and realistic simulator, but not a "game", and Parkitect is cartoony too.

If all that people want is NL2 for the coaster creation, then RCT games were never that to begin with. Would it be good to have? Yes. Would it get "customers" outside of the people on this and similar enthusiast sites? No.

Until more information comes out, we're just speculating anyway. It's not like they're as open, or probably ever going to be as open, as Ole during NL2 development. I'll wait until the game actually comes out, or at least has a demo/beta that can be played before making an opinion on if it is good or not.

Until then, RCT(1/2) for "fun", NL2 for "realism".

The only problem with long development cycles (2+ years) is that by the time a project is in release status it is likely going to launch on an obsolete coding platform. Every 6 months we see new hardware, with it comes newer versions of programming languages to utilize the new hardware. Microsoft can't make up their mind on life cycles of some programming languages, so you may very well program something just in time for it to no longer be supported on the OS. While NL2 is a great effort and an improvement over the old game, in terms of graphics and use of hardware it is a dinosaur.

In the background of the second screenshot it looks like if track is banked the wrong way

They better add some useless archivements as well with that. So you actually have a reason to play

^^ Can I expect the "atomic" mode like RCT3? Still my favorite secret code!

wow. rct1 was more advanced than this garbage. It's like thrillville and theme park had an inbred child. Parkitect hit the market while it's down on its knees!

I'm not yet deterred.

I get the impression that most of what they are showing is for the GP, while hinting at more behind the scenes catering to the community.

Rct3 can look like HD recreations with CS, CFRs, and CTRs. Not even a fifth of the content in my folders came with the game. Not to mention at least one promised free upgrade.

But then all that thinking went out the window with the minimum of 10 GB. Stilling buying it tho

^ Says the guy that doesn't like NL2 XD( don't take this seriously.)

I was never a fan of all the custom content you have to download or make for RCT3, for me thats something that sets the difference between pure simulation, and game, not to mention I'm rather lazy, but thats a different can of worms.
To me it just seems less than what was originally teased, but I guess in the end thats how it always is.
What are these for?

The custom content was cool when there still was a manageable list posted of the existing custom packs. Now there is so much different content scattered around the internet, that you just don't know where to look for certain packs. That's the point where I pretty much gave up on RCT3.

^My thoughts exactly.

Im really disappointed in the trailer. I was expecting much more, including actually realistic track pieces, but I saw none of that. But Im not gonna give up on it yet for the same reasons LuckyK said above (mostly)

I was expecting more, but I am still satisfied that its somewhat better than RCT3 and it will have multiplayer mode, that will get used by me, a lot!

Like, did some of you *watch* the gameplay trailer? Since shifting developers to Area 52, this project took an absolute nose dive. Coasters look rendered in MS Paint, the entire thing seems like a bad port of RCT3 into a mobile engine. Another insult to the franchise from Atari.

I'm honestly ok with everything except the coasters. They indeed look like MS Paint, and the curves are even worse than RCT3.
