Actually, they did retrack psyclone, I personally saw them retracking such parts as the first drop and the last couple turns, but they trimmed as well because it is just rough no matter what. The trains *would* be good if they had some buzzbars or something, but those restraints staple crazily, causing extremely sore legs. And yes, it used to be a decent ride but has gone to crap since then.

Yeah...err, it's too bad Psyclone is so rough as you say, because SFGAm's cyclone-style woodie, Viper, is actually really great, delivering a suprisingly smooth ride with loads of airtime...probably my favorite ride in the park.

Ditto, great ride.

Strange to see you saying a B&M is too rough, Mr. I like to be slammed around [;)]

Sure I liked to be slammed around on a woodie a bit, but when I go to ride a B&M, I expect a smooth, relaxing, and fun ride...Iron Wolf gives the exact opposite...

But yeah, Viper is great fun.

Hehe. Oh, so then people should freaking understand why I hate Mantis. Its just as bad IMO. My ears are worn raw from one ride (reguardless the seat too though the front 2 cars are the least intense) and I generate a headache quickly.

Yet, no one seems to be on the same wavelength... :\

I agre....Mantis, also, isn't that great a ride....but at least for it's rough headbanging, it has some fun parts that make the ride slightly enjoyable. But I wouldn't go out of my way to ride it, that's for sure.

I enjoy the hangtime in the loop and then airtime on the diving switchback before the MCB. Everything else hurts (which says alot, Ive been on some rough rides Id rather ride than that thing) or is just...well it just hurts all over. Too much vibration. They have to be some of the worst B&M trains Ive ever been on.

Yeah, those are two of the things that I enjoyed, as well...Yet, when I was there, I didn't find it all THAT rough. I just thought it didn't do much...

And that corkscrew exit...not fun at all...

InsertViper @ SFGadv, even though its so short, you want it to end before you hit the lift, and way b4 you see part of the coaster track laying on the ground(long story)

i hear some of you saying that the EL CONDOR at SFH/WW is kind of rough. But when i was there in November. It was smoother then the time before that at SFH/WW that was Augustus. Then it was rough. So maybe they had changed something.

Modified the trains? could be.
The track is kinda smooth but the trains add a terrible feeing to the ride.

Scopian at BGT. Got a really sore head after going on it.

Anyway, are there any Rough B&M's?

Ninja @ SFoG. it would help if maybe they could get those neat lapbars like an LIM coaster...

I hear Iron Wolf is probably the Roughest. Some of the BTR's on given days can give some laterals in the wingovers, possibly a head bang there. Nothing too serious.

Personally, I find Mantis to be a pretty rough ride, mostly because the trains vibrate and shimmy like CRAZY. Its impossible for me, no matter how I ride, to come off without:

1. Headache
2. Red Ears
3. Shaken Baby Syndrome

Ill have one of the 3 every time I ride it, which is rare.

Viper @ SFMM for steel, and Psyclone for Wooden, although Grizzly at PGA comes close. Never heard of a rough B&M though. :)

As far as rough Beemers are concerned, I'd say Iron Wolf and Mantis as did Real. Viper IMO is rough, but the roughness adds to the ride for me. I think that the roughest coaster I have been on is either Psyclone or the modern Texas Giant(It used to be very smooth).

The roughest, yet one of the fastest and fun rides i have ever been on was the Steel Phantom, the worlds fastest (80mph.) looping coaster (4 inversions) with an incredible second hill (225ft.) However it has been remodified into the Phantom's Revenge, a superb hyper terrain coaster, but that im sure most of you know. Makes it's place properly in the heart of Steel city, my home....Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.
