I seriously don't get FVDs. I've had some of the good FVD-ers try to explain it to me, and they still haven't succeeded.

I've tried them myself, and I'm lost in the jungle of mathematical formulas. I seriously need someone to go into detail about how to use them, because I still don't get them, even after I've read topics about them countless times.

Once you get it, you'll be laughing at how simple it really is. I think the biggest issue I had learning them (which took about 25 minutes for the basics, btw) was figuring out where all the important user inputs were scattered to. If I had more experience with them and/or was better with the formula I might consider writing a tutorial for making some basic elements.

I'm worried when you speak of "mathematical formulas", because the only place you'll find those in FVDs is the transition pool, and those are premade, so you don't even need to know how they work (though I might recommend it)! It's just a matter of getting the timing and forces and bankings happening cohesively.

I've tried it a bit more in the past few minutes, and haven't got anything sofar. I usually pick things up real fast, so this is something that is really stumping me.

It took me a while to really understand FVDs too, but the only math involved is addition and subtraction. Like Kevin said, it's really just about finding where all the inputs are and what they mean. Read through the readme that came with the formulas (a few times if you need to) and just mess around a little and you should get it eventually. Once you understand the input system, it's all about experimenting.

Eh, I gave up on them. I don't understand the concept.

Umm, dcs, can you help me out here? I've tried and tried and tried to make something, but gtimea/b/c/d/e/f/g/h/i/j/k/l are all confroozling me. And if I wanted to make just a simple airtime hill with zero-g at the top, I would enter what? (it's easier for me to get a formula to use, so that I can understand it).

Here's a good formula for you Xpress:

(Me + your dad) x 365 days = the sheets sticking together in random places in morning and some blood stains
"Careful man, there's a beverage here!"

The default is an airtime hill with a twist. Figure out how to untwist it, and see what the formula looks like.

btw, way to edit your post and make me look like I can't spell. Good job.

They're actually WAY easier than they look! I'm not saying I'm an expert, but I am allready making a coaster. I am having some problems, but if you considder that I've started learning them dlike 2 days ago...
But, nothing of this woul be possible for me without alton_, who taught me the essentials, and is still answering to all the questions I have! Thanks mate!

I did get it untwisted dcs, but I tried to tweak it, you know, to get a better hill, and it got all out of whack, and I got some segment like 3,000ft. long.

You're probably making your time zones freakishly long.

Got those right, and tried to make an Immelmann. Well, got the outline, but no track.

I looked at everything, and still haven't figured out how to make the track. One of the purple nodes ends up way out in the moddle of nowhere.

That means the formula doesn't work. I'm guessing you either have forces lasting too long, or banking is wrong and the force winds up into an infinite spiral of death.

They're not hard. I recommend finding someone who has the time to go through it with you. It's all about not being intimidated by so many numbers and realizing how little of those numbers you need to work with.

Ok, so here's what I have:

gtimea:4.0 (matches g force settings like it says)
gtimeb:4.1
gtimec:4.0

I'm guessing that's wrong. Also, banking is set to 'btimea:5'. I'm also guessing that's wrong.

Woahhhh. I would not use 4 seconds for any zone, unless it's a truly big element. Can we see the corresponding gPunk lines?

Lol, what does that post having anything to do with helping Xpress? Sounds like you're just trying to boast.

Clifford was made with only using one very long time zone... beat that.

ROFL, got something now...........

It's a down-slopped roll. I tried a heartline of 1.10, but it isn't heartlined, so whatever.
