get yourself an mp3 player from creative or something...costs way less and is just as good. I even think they look better.

Yep, Creative Zen kicks iPods ass. iPods are overrated to the point of insanity. Well marketed but the product just isn't that. battery life is awful, and i hate the single circular button, it just looks ugly. Rather than waste your money, go for something cheaper, then you could save the rest of the money for a Dynamix coaster kit ;)

i got 2 ipods for my b-day lol the video and the nano from my parents and there both cool, its eazy to control and the battery life is awsome aswell , if your not buying it i see no harm, like i did. lol and i still didnt return one becuz it was a mistake , my dad thought he was the one buying it for me but my mom got the nano as well, lol ill keep them both. plus you got cool colors to choose from and video. i dont see creative mp3's having that plus the sleek design instead of carrying that block of a mp3 that creative makes

get a creative, i have a creative zen micro and i must say it is much better than ipod.
-the ipod nano may be small but it is overpriced and the color screen is worthless being as small as it is.
-the new ipod videos are also not such an amazing discovery, personally i think mp3 players shouldnt be rated according to anything but what it can do with music, after all it is an mp3 player.
-creative has a very large shoice of mp3 players, some of the better ones being the zen touch, zen micro, zen sleek, and zen neeon.
-the zen micro is smaller than an ipod mini, cheaper than an ipod nano, and comes in 4gb(2,000) 5gb(2,500) and 6gb(3,000) and also comes in a new color version which is available in 8gb(4,000) for only $250, the same price as a ipod nano.

also the creative software is much better than itunes, since creative is a soundboard manufacturer the sound quality is much better, and you can actually plug your creative into someone elses computer and get songs off without deleting your library! and once the sales of the creatives go up there is likely to be many more accessories for it since the headphone jack and mini usb port are parallel. and even though creatives dont waste space with permanent games, they come with features such as the built in microphone and voice recorder, 32 preset fm radio and radio recorder, removable battery, sleep timer, alarm clock, date&time, calender, contacts, and you can even reserve up to 2gb for storage.

and yes im aware that i sound like a creative salesman but actually im really bored, i just got done clicking that stupid button 5000 times

Better overall battery life. In CNET Labs' drain test, the 5G (30GB) scored nearly 15 hours, while the 4G (20GB) maxed out at 17 hours. Sure, the 5G is 31 percent sleeker, but the weight loss comes at a price. And most users will dabble in a little video playback, so average playback times will certainly drop into the single digits. If you don't use it for video, you still need to contend with the fact that the 5G has a bigger, more power-hungry screen than the 4G's, one that will probably be turned on for 10 seconds (default setting) many times a day. You can maximize both versions' battery longevity by keeping the backlight off during the day. Also, consider the 60GB 5G iPod, which adds the tiniest amount of thickness and weight but has a rated battery life of 20 hours for audio.
Faster processing. Apple won't tell us what's inside, but we've seen an autopsy. Obviously, the processor has been upgraded to power the video engine, and for the most part, the user experience is much the same--that is, the processor is stable, reliable, and relatively powerful. But we've noticed that the 5G has more 2-second pauses when skipping tracks (especially those with multiple titles) than the 4G. In fact, the 5G at times reminds me of my G4 PowerBook: slow.
More Click Wheel = defter navigation. The 4G has a bigger Click Wheel than the 5G. It actually takes more thumb rotations to get through the entire music library. And the 5G's select button is flat, not raised, and thus less tactile, as with the 4G. The bigger screen and smaller Click Wheel feel a tad unwieldy for this iPod user.
More robust design. The 5G feels slippery and slightly awkward in the hand--maybe it's too sleek. The 4G feels more ergonomic and certainly less precious than the 5G, though the age of the device might be a factor. And whether or not the 5G scratches more than the 4G version, the bigger screen amplifies the effect of any blemish. When I'm using an iPod for audio, I could care less what the screen looks like, though I like viewing photos with background music.
Remote control. With the 5G version, you can spring for the new dock, which works with the cool new Apple wireless remote control. But you can't yet get a convenient wired remote, such as the one available for the smart-jack-equipped 4G version. As iPod users can attest, the remote is awesome for music, since it lets you stash your iPod, and you get dedicated volume controls.

But here are four reasons why you'd want a 5G iPod anyway:

At the same price point ($300, at launch), you do get 10GB more with the 5G. However, 4G iPods (color or not) are available on the cheap these days.
I've had fun watching Desperate Housewives the last three nights in a row.
The slim 5G iPod is better in the pocket and on the eyes.
I've noticed the 5G sounds slightly better (brighter, with a tad more bass) than the 4G version.

why creative zen sucks

Lows:
Cord required to sync, confusing menu navigation, non-rechargeable battery

plus heres a review

I know it is sometimes hard to go with the flow and give into what seems like herd mentality, but iPod is the #1 MP3 player by far for some great reasons: the functionality is unbeatable, the sound quality unsurpassed, the styling is awesome, and the company behind it is terrific. Compare the iPod prices with the Zen; I don't think you'll find that the Apple is that far off, price-wise, given its great credentials, especially when considering a large capacity hard drive -- has any other company even made a 40 gig or 60 gig player?

I have had a 40 gig 4th generation iPod for just over a year -- I love it even more today than I did when I received it as a birthday gift. I use it every day. I did have a component failure just 2 weeks after my first anniversary, so it broke out of warranty, but you know what? I brought it to an Apple store and they still replaced it for FREE! Could you count on Creative to do that? Is there even find a Creative store?

Finally, before deciding, read up on how the Zen loads and syncs music files. The iTunes interface for iPod is seamless, and the free iTunes software is a great music librarying program that offers podcasts and audiobooks, along with music. Some MP3-players have had issues with how easily they transfer/update files. Sony may have had some issues there, I think, but I don't know about Creative. Any way, good luck with your decision.

alright chito i think you need to refresh your memory with the creatives, they DO have rechargable batteries and the zen micro drains at 15 hours. the "brick" design as you call it is much more comfortable in the hand with its contour back than a flat rectangle. the creatives interface and navigation is nearly EXACTLY the same as apple's, the only difference is that all of the buttons[menu(back arrow), enter(center of the scroll bar), play/pause, next, and back] are all spread out around the scroll bar rather than on it, and all of the buttons are ehat sensed so you dont have to worry about mashing anything down. and if you want videos i suggest you get sometihng other than an mp3 player, if you say,"i want an mp3 player" you should logically a device that plays and stores mp3 files, not to say creative doesnt make devices that play videos, because they do, they have a few of them actually and they are currently in the process of making a new one which is smaller than the zen micro(pretty much the same size as a nano except a bit thicker and the screen takes up much of the device)
and for the record, creatives are much cheaper thna ipods, the zen micro i know has just had a price drop from $200 to $180, and comes with a free gift if you order from the creative website(free gift changes frewuently and it usually the $40 if bought seperately)
when you say you need a cord to sync? if youre talking about transferring songs, all mp3 players need a cord how else are you supposed to get them off a computer, but at least creative uses a recognizable cord to do it.
and yes, many other companies have made 40gb and 60gb players, companies like dell, toshiba, AND even creative, amazing i know right?
creative is very leniant with their return policy, my friend had one that the backlight wouldnt turn off unless he took the battery out, but when he put it back in it would turn right back on, he sent it back and requested a new one and got it within a week.
also the reason i state that the creative software is better than itunes is because you can go to anyone elses computer that has the software loaded and a mini usb cord hanging around, and get all the music you want off of their computer, and if they want something you have, you can copy it from the device onto the computer. you can also create playlists either from your device or from your computer, and also dj songs with many more options that ipod, you can shuffle songs from, within all music, within a genre, within an artist, or within an album, and you can even check to see the top 20 most listened to, and least listened to songs, or just have the device pick an album of the day at random.

i read TONS of reviews on TONS of mp3 players and the creative was to me the best price for its song capacity, size, and features coming from a reliable company, and the creative was also more appealing to they eye if you ask me, with the white backlit screen and blue button and rim light, plus it comes in 10 different colors.

The Ipod touch wheel sucks. Its impossible to get it on the right choice you want. I got an Ipod mini, and I dont like it so much that im going to get the Zen Sleek.

if you want a good mp3 player iPods aren't bad, but ya know, everyone has one. Creative mp3 players are great too. The only reaon I would not get a creative is because of what a hassle it is if something goes wrong and you're not very good at fixing things. I've dropped my zen micro a few times...uhh yea and now the whole thing is sllloowwwwllllllyyyy slipping out of the casing and if you wear out your head phone jack too much(IE pull on the headphones very very tightly for a long time when they're plugged in) it will make the inner connection very loose and you'll have to wiggle it to get full sound. with all that said, the zen micro has some great features too. You can get it in a lot of different colors, its cheaper, the screen is easy on the eyes, clearly laid out, a replaceable battery(one of the best features on it), and its not NEARLY as scratchable as the iPod. Along the lines of sound quality, I have to say between an iPod and a creative, creative wins. Since creative is a sound-based company, even at a lower bitrate for each sound file, it sounds very good.

now the new ipod is cool too with the whole video thing and the default color screen. I have the 1st model zen micro so I think that has something to do with all the little problems I have with it. Now, my sister has an ipod, and I have to say fixing the ipod is at least twice as hard as fixing a creative mp3 player.

if I had to choose between an ipod and a creative, I'd go with the creative. and if I had to choose between all the selection creative has, I'd choose either a zen micro/micro photo, a zen sleek, or a zen neeon.

... I don't see why you wouldnt need a cord to sync....unless yur ipod has a wi-fi?

the menu nav is simple its just if you're used to an ipod, the buttons are a little different to do what you want. but overall it is not confusing.

and the non-rechargeable part is why you get a newer model.

also, the sync, to me, is better for zen because you can use more than just iTunes to sync. I've sync'd manually without a media player, with real player, napster, rhapsody, windows media player(this one works best).

ugg PSP is stupid. its overpriced and the gaming experience isn't that great. and the only other thing I'd get something like that is for maybe music. to buy it and then watch a movie or a show or anything with video is just pointless to me cuz I can't think of a time in my everyday life when I'm walkin around with my psp thinkin "hey i wanna watch some Lost!". and for storing pics... what good is it gonna do u to have pics on a portable format? and for $250 u get the bare minimum, the thing, a cord to charge, and a dinky little 20mb sd card.

I know I'll probably get a lot of flak for saying this, but if you don't have too much music, get a Shuffle. Small, light, and no touch wheel. I don't really care if I have a screen or not because I have a pretty much set number of songs I like so I am very familar with the playlists. For ease of use, the Shuffle is great. All I have to do is plug it into the side of my keyboard and away I go. Plus it also doubles as a USB flash drive. If you do choose a Shuffle, the 1gb model is the best way to go because I'm sure you have more music than me. Right now mine has 136mb on it and that's with quite a few songs over 6 minutes.

Writing this has made me want to add some more songs. The last time I updated it was about 4 month ago, but I have only recently started listening to it again.

CD players are always good too, don't waste your money on a five million dollar Ipod just because you don't want to lug around a CD player, its not that bad lol. besides, you can put a ton of songs on a disk anymore

Well, both of the links you put did not show any specs for Mac so I would assume that it doesn't work with them.

See, only Windows specs: http://us.creative.com/products/product ... quirements

http://us.creative.com/products/product ... quirements

So, if I want a cheap, flash-based Mp3 and AAC player I go with the Shuffle for the simple reason that it looks nicer (no stupid battery pack to lug around) and that it works with my computer.

I own this one:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp ... 9394773208
Best thing I have come across. And about battery life, anyone who will listen to 15+ hours straight of mp3's seriously needs to get a life. People need to stop being lazy and simply when you get home connect it to the recharger, eat something and then disconnect it. It's not a great human challenge. Anyway. Mine is damn easy to use, love the radio ability [:D] I've used to store files and tranfer them elsewhere. Adding songs is a breeze. Playlisting them is easy too. If you can read this on the internet, then you can bet you can plug this thing into your pc and add songs to it. Easier than browsing the internet if you ask me.
