Howdy, this is my first trip report with some decent photos but not perfect. Don't judge too much, but a little bit is ok.
Now, onto the report.
Today was the opening day of the park and I've been anticipating this day since it closed in October. We arrived at the park a bit after opening due to traffic on the highway and we were greeted by this.
Quite a sight to see in person, it looks great!
The park was not too crowded when we arrived so we were hopeful for short lines. One of the longer lines of the day was getting through security and then the entrance gates. Six Flags installed the new Biometric/Fingerprint scanners this year at the gate and they were making you do your fingerprint right at the gate which caused a 15 minute line after waiting 10 minutes to go through security. Not your best idea Six Flags.
After getting through the gate we headed right over to El Toro and luckily we were greeted by a short 10-15 minute line. We sat 3rd to last row in the back and quite a first ride of the year it was. Sorry, I don't have photos yet, I didn't get the chance to take any, the next time I visit which will be Wednesday, I'll update this with some photos of El Toro.
After El Toro, we headed over to Bizarro which was a walk-on into the station. We ended up waiting 15 minutes though in the station because of the horrible loading. There were 2 not very well trained operators loading the ride and due to their slowness, they wouldn't even begin checking the train until after the previously dispatched train was well past the MCBR. Now to some photos.
After we headed over to the Skyway and I got some good shots from there.
After the Skyway, we headed over to Skull Mountain which had a 5 minute wait. No pictures cause there really isn't much to see.
Then we headed over to Batman and Nitro, both had 15-20 minute waits.
Next we headed back over to the other side of the park and went on Houdini's Great Escape.
Next we headed over to Superman and Green Lantern, Superman was down for most of the 2nd half of the day but Green Lantern was open and had a 10 minute wait. Most of the following pictures are from the Green Lantern line and station.
As we were leaving Green Lantern, we were pushed to the side by security. No one knew why, until we rounded the corner and saw that security was containing a wild skunk walking around. Hard to see in the picture, but it is in the shade near the red Restricted Area sign that's facing away from the camera.
Next, we headed back over to ride Batman and Nitro since El Toro's line was an hour. Nitro had a 30 minute wait and Batman was walk on. Also the sun began to set which made the park look nice.
We decided that we would end our night with a front row Nitro. Lucky for us we got in line 15 minutes ahead of time and were able to actually sit in the front row (because you know, the ride ops will force you to another row because they will only send a limited number of trains at some point.) We were the 2nd to last train to go. The temperature had dropped to about 50 degrees, which was freezing since it had gotten to about 75 degrees earlier that day. Cold+Wind+230 Feet+80 MPH= Best Nitro ride ever! The only thing that wasn't perfect was when we found out that the last train after us got to ride twice, but we were happy with the amazing ride that we got.
After Nitro, it was 8:20 the park had closed at 8:00, so it was time to head home. Here are some final shots of the day. Some pictures look better than others.
Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed!
Note: Unrelated but just noticed this Trip Report was my 500th post!!!!!!!
