Grim news today from Atlanta, Georgia. Flooding rains from Hurricane Ivan have caused massive flooding, and Six Flags over Georgia is almost completely underwater. Mindbender is submerged up to the middle of the loop, and the entire base structure of Georgia Cyclone is underwater. The flood damage to the park is immense, and it may be weeks before it re-opens. no photos to show you, because it is so recent, but I saw an aerial shot of the park on The Weather Channel. Not a pretty sight.

That sucks so bad, one of the few good six flags parks is destroyed. I just hope it gets better. Im glad bgt and ioa and Seaworld (Kraken) didn't get much during Charlie.
i dont think its "destroyed". the water will receed in a few weeks, i just hope it opens again before its official closing date. I only went about 3 times during the summer
hmm, that water looked really crappy, the flood damages might have not been extensive enough to completely close down the park, but I'm sure they'll have a lot to repair when the season ends.
Pretty much the same thing happened to SFOT a couple of months ago. I'm pretty sure that the park reopened the next day, with the exception of Shockwave.
It's not as bad as it looks. GASM (the woodie) is partially over water any way. It's designed to take a flood without problems. Mindbender (the green steelie) is a special case, as the portiton pictured is in a fairly deep hole (the bottom is a good 40 or 50ft below the surrounding terrain) the rest of the park is at a higher elevation.
Tyler is right about mindbender. That portion shown in the pic is kinda in a ditch over some water. I dont think they will have to repaint anything, just clean it. They can do that with a high pressure water nosel on a hose
Hey...they got themselves a new water coaster...j/k Hopefully the computerized system doesnt get screwed up. It should be ok though being as teh track gets wet anyway when it rains.
well, the wood is pressure treated and water sealed so that it doesn't rot when exposed to water. Therefore, it can take on a flood without collapsing. Plus, a painted wood coaster has a further layer of protection against water. It may need a fresh coaster of paint, but the stucture itself should be unharmed.
