Six Flags hosted the first Blogger Call of 2010 not too long ago.

You can find a summery of the call here: http://newsplusnotes.blogspot.com/2010/ ... ll-of.html
The full call is here: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/vi ... 660#847660

As stated, it seems that Six Flags has finally finished their restructuring plan and they will present said plan at a hearing on March 18th. This exiting of bankruptcy will not effect any of the parks or their opening dates.

Some other good news is that despite all the swine flu scares and economic issues, all Six Flags parks were profitable for the 2009 season.

Getting Their Priorities Straight
Enhancing and improving the guest experience has always been a top priority for the new management team, but it's not their only priority. Mark noted that there are three assets in particular on which they plan to focus in the near term: their people, their content (i.e., developing their own intellectual property and brand extensions), and their information technology infrastructure. Their progress in the third area is already evident in the form of upgraded systems and point-of-sale terminals in many of the parks, which they hope have translated into a smoother experience for park patrons.

Once again, we sincerely thank Mark Shapiro and all the Six Flags employees who make these calls possible. There's nothing like getting information straight from the source, and Mark's willingness to make himself available to our community in this manner is unprecedented and most definitely appreciated. Till next time...That's all, folks!

I have kept coming back to this thread, to see if anyone else would respond, and thought since I am not one to sit back and keep my mouth shut that it was time to respond..

I read the conference call, and since I have minimal issues with the parks, I was fine with what they had to say, and since I did read it fully, I did notice the important points out of the conversation, like how it talked about how the park had finished their restructuring of their debt, how it plans to price their passes and so forth including admissions being the lowest they have been in years with a gradual climb as the economy improves.

I also noticed how they got a mess of rides re-painted, invested in landscaping, and cleaned up the midways, which were in dire need of it over the past couple of years.

the way I see it, these are things all done to make the parks a better place to visit, and we ALL know how important those factors are, its a given, without a clean park, and maintained rides, the crowds wont be there...

they mention "their people" as part of their new strategy, but do they go into deeper detail about that? no, they don't but we don't know what their plans on that are, they don't cover it in the article, so we are left to draw our own conclusions.

and even though we are left to do that, its not for sure that it's a negative thing either, they might have different opinions now with all the other changes going on within the company which may or may not cause them to put a little more emphasis on Customer service, again, that's something we don't know for sure, we have to wait to see how the season goes, and form our own opinions as such.

Personally, I am ready for another season at my park, just on the fact that I have the park to go to. I don't eat the food there anymore, and I don't buy stuff there simply because I don't want to deal with the employees for any reason other than to get on a ride, I have learned over the past couple of seasons, the less interaction makes for a wonderful day.

SO pretty much all you have to do in order to have a good time at six flags is to ignore the fact that all of the employees are underpaid, mistreated, and thus unhappy. I'll have to remember that the next time I go to a SF park!

All the employees have been much nicer and more motivated since the new management took over in my opinion as opposed to the Premier days. I have not had a bad day at an SF park honestly.

hey looks like you might have yourself a solution![:D]

but seriously, I find it humorous that you came to that conclusion after reading what I wrote.. no really, do what YOU have to do to make your visit fun at the park, I go to ride the coasters and enjoy the park, the "less interaction" I am referring to is with those employees that work out there that don't give a rats butt about their jobs.

as far as your statement concerning "all of the employees" with all due respect, you can't speak for the majority of the employees at Six Flags parks. I personally know plenty of people that work out at the parks, not only in management, but in just seasonal help, that are fully happy with their jobs, that keep going back season after season. now something must be wrong with these workers I guess, since they are so happy with their jobs at Six Flags, what with being underpaid and mistreated and all.
