A part on the Smiler at Alton Towers malfunctioned and caused a part of the track to come apart.

Looks like we will see a large number of rides with parts from Gerstlauer close fallowing the Texas Giant issue, even more with this now.

I didn't know British Leyland put roller coasters together.

I don't understand. Is there some sort of amusement industry curse happening right now? Especially on the Smiler, jeesh... This could be Gerstlauer's fault, the construction contractor's fault, or even the maintenance crew I guess.

In all honesty, it could be a multitude of faults here. Most likely, this was caused by vibrations/shaking/rattling. Poor ride design, a centimeter off in footer placing, etc. It's just a GREAT thing that this ride wasn't in operation at the time of discovery.
Oh, were you expecting something here?

Construction of the ride was sh!t and rushed. The entire ride is bodged to fvck and I'm not surprised that its falling apart.

If any ride has ever had a poorly planned construction window, it's that ride.

Six Flags when they open something late at least does it because they went "eh wait till next month".

Well I have a question then. If the construction window was unmanageably short, who is to blame? Gerstlauer and construction associates for rushing it, or Alton Towers for telling them to rush it?

Gerstlauer because they shouldn't sign off a ride that is built with shoddy quality.

That's nuts! I would rather bolt from that ride area.

Not even, Alton Towers is at fault, the ride was manufactured fine, Alton Towers just put it together poorly.

Yeah I'm pretty sure this is the builder's fault and not Gerstlauer's.

Yeah you're right.

Although Alton Towers are the client not the builder/contractor.

Sketchy ride is sketchy. Did they re-open this or did the decide to take it apart and undo the stupid ass backwards?
