a lot of people. The rolls on Gatekeeper go into negative forces. They don't keep you in your seat. That and the almost weightless sine wave of the layout can be pretty stomach-churning to some. I love it

Cedar Point in its history RARELY builds a roller coaster once every two years. I don't know how you could possibly obtain that figure.

Going to the park every year of my life. I just listed years they did lol. Not to mention magnum coming out in 89 and mean streak coming out in 91. I don't see how you don't look up the years before you tell me I'm wrong

It's long been a cedar point documented tradition for a major addition every other year. Sometimes it's not a coaster but often times it is. Especially after losing two for Gatekeeper I can see this being a possible new coaster. Also since they have said this next year is catering for teens and thrill seekers

1-4 years between coasters had been the norm for decades, with an interval of 2 years being most common. When Gatekeeper was built it had been the longest coaster drought since the 70s/80s. I am cautiously optimistic for what the next few years holds for Cedar Point, but I also think we'll be waiting beyond 2015 for a major new coaster (hopefully not too long). Apparently 2020, the 150th anniversary, is already being discussed/possibly in early planning stages. If they don't go balls deep that year, I don't know when they would.

Really I think it was the back to back costs of MF, ttd, and Maverick that caused the dry spell in coaster building. Those were some crazy expensive rides, even for a megapark. Here's hoping they are back to the two years cycle XD. It's how they got the coaster record. Think they are going for it again?

That's true, and they even plopped Wicked Twister down in there as well - the total cost of those 4 coasters was a cool $80 million. I doubt that they're going after Magic Mountain for the coaster crown, especially given that Oiumet is at the helm now. I just hope we see some truly impressive/innovative coasters down the pipeline.

To get the crown back all they have to do is pace themselves again. SFMM and Six Flags have always been super random with their rides. As well as a healthy habit of ride rotations and replacements which eventually would give Cedar Point the edge again. Not every coaster needs to be Gatekeeper or larger. Kiddy Kingdom has always needed it's own roller coaster and I would like to see Camp Snoopy get another as well. Jr. Gemini > Wilderness run looks awesome with the Snoopy conversion but that area still needs and has the room for a B&M family Inverted Coaster [link]http://rcdb.com/6712.htm#[/link] for those that are too big for Woodstock Express. With the relationship they are currently displaying, I think if they got one in the near future it would be from B&M, and could still be an affordable accompanying coaster to a major addition so the little tykes don't get trampled by GP. I don't think we've seen the end of this bulk purchase for the chain, those giga coasters are two humongous hints Huh, just thought of something. 'nother topic XD

I'm pretty sure RMC is full with the SF remodels and wildfire this year, hopefully next year we start seeing them branch off into other big chain parks....

I'm hoping they branch off of the big chains and focus on the smaller parks :D

I wouldn't be surprised if they replace rides with new ones as opposed to flat out building new ones.

Ouimet was appalled at the employee dorms and that's apparently on the "to fix" list. They demolished one of them without warning and built a new one, so I predict that trend will continue. It is well known that those dorms are the worst and continually overrun with bedbugs. I think Ouimet is big on image or perhaps learned image is important from Disney. For example the dorms used to have a barbed wire fence around them and he immediately switched it to a more normal fence because guests were assuming the dorms were "an odd place to put a juvenile detention center".

Keep in mind the new giga at Carowinds redesigns the entrance to look all badass and stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if he was the initial "hey we should restore these rides" mind behind what as been going on at Knott's Berry Farm either.

As far as CP goes, if I was in charge the first thing I'd do is have the Snoopy land next to Kiddie Kingdom overrun Kiddie Kingdom and put new little tikes rides in its place, because Kiddie Kingdom looks bad by even carnival standards. The Gemini Midway redo was probably a similar plan, along with the new entrance/Gatekeeper.

Question: I usually go to Canada's Wonderland about once a year or once every two years, but haven't been able to travel all the way up to Canada since before Leviathan was built (I really want to soon), meaning I haven't seen the entrance in a while. Did CW incorporate Leviathan into the entrance? Or is it only Cedar Point & Carowinds? Anyway, I expect either Kings Island, Kings Dominion, or Knotts Berry Farm to get another huge coaster that incorporates the entrance.

Knotts has no room without overlapping rides, which quite frankly looks ugly so don't count on it.

The dorm situation is finally going in a better direction. They were/are really bad. I rented a house in Sandusky (with some friends) for the summer. Worked out to be cheaper during the summer -- not the fall because the the dorms are free during Halloweekends. Besides that, I've heard plans on revamp and rebuild many new dorms.

As for the kids areas, Planet Snoopy and Kiddy Kingdom are geared towards different age groups. I know Kiddy Kingdom doesn't look the best, but it has higher daily numbers than Planet Snoopy and Camp Snoopy. Not so much new rides are needed because we need those Hampton rides for the little ones, but it does need some touching up.

Very excited for 2015!!!

The entrances at King's Island, King's Dominion, and Knott's aren't as open as with Carowinds and Cedar Point. Especially with the iconic Eiffel Tower and fountains at KD and KI I highly doubt they would need to incorporate a ride into the entrance.

Leviathan is all over the place and in the street and outside the park and all but not really part of the entrance experience like Gatekeeper and Fury.

I love that they kept those rides. I'd really like to see that incorporated into Planet Snoopy and sectioned off as a full area. Clearing out the useless dolphin stadium would make more than enough room for a significant kiddie expansion and much needed third Jr. roller coaster

Tomorrow's the big day! They have stated that this next season is for thrill seekers, let's see something worth it \o/

I'm taking a wild guess here that whatever is happening it's happening to Mean Streak. This isn't a very educated guess - its just based on the fact that both Cedar Point and Tony Clark tweeted out that the announcement is at "high noon", and nobody really says that anymore except in old Western movies.

And what ride is in the Western themed area of Cedar Point? Mean Streak. Not Mantis. Just my guess :)

Why would that have anything to do with Mean Streak?

A western theme would make me think of either the Mine Train or Maverick...

Wait, where are you seeing a western reference? Is it because he said high noon? Hmmm but I agree with Tyler on that one. But what could possibly be done with Maverick or CCMR? Maybe something is happening with Mean Weak.

EDIT - Also just saying, my guess was right about both Holiday World and Carowinds :D

Well calm down those weren't very hard predictions to make lol.

For Maverick (not that i expect this but just throwing it out there)....

Some kind of gimmick...floorless trains, reverse trains, something like that.

They will not touch Maverick... They will probably not touch Mean Streak. They will likely not touch Mantis, but a repaint and retrain would be excellent.

Mantis to a sitdown/floorless wouldn't shock me at all.

I made that wild guess on a vague reference - it's just an idea I had because of the 'high noon' stuff, I could end up being way off. Mean Streak isn't really Western themed, but it's in the Frontier Town area (if memory serves, it's been a while since I was there) and as mentioned before they definitely aren't touching Maverick.

They're still really bad. Lighting them on fire would be an improvement. My last day of work was today and all I need to say is that the "thermal remediation" trailer for bedbugs shouldn't be in front of one of the dorms running EVERY SINGLE DAY OF THE SEASON. I'd rather camp out in the park every night if I was promised access to a shower every morning than deal with these dorms.

That being said I'm running everything cloth through the dryer before I leave tomorrow.

This was posted on kolby Connection and Coaster gallery's facebook page today....seems interesting, and possibly misleading, no doubt just looking to create a buzz and generate speculation amongst the coaster and theme park community, but, I am thinking Mean Streak MAY get the RMC make-over a lot of people have been hoping for, or, possibly a renewed relationship with Intmain.

^ I was going to post that at some point. I think 1 thing on that list is actually real, and everything else is just stuff Tony has seen/heard around the internet.

Anyone available to watch the CP Social Media like a hawk tomorrow at noon and post everything that you can find here in this topic? I will not be at home so I am not able to do it and neither is Oscar. This would be a great help to us if you can. Thank you!

Everyone is going on about RMC redoing mean streak, we forget there are other companies that have reprofiled rides recently with success too. Like GCI and cyclone, while its not the same thing as what RMC does it does have the same effect in making the coaster better.
What are these for?
