Solar Powered launch ?

I was thinking maybe a water powered launch?

^Would you mean like a water vapor powered launch? A steam launch?

like a tube of water running along under the track and the propellers would spin and spin the friction wheels on top (srry about the double post)

Anything solar powered isn't so great if you ask me, because they wouldn't work very well in England now would they

Why not used compressed water launch? Here's what I mean. Ok, pump water in expandable pitch were the water can be stored. Once pressure is built in the pitch a hole opens to let the water out. The water makes itself thru a generator to create high electricity, and vuala, a launch. Oh, wait, water bills but you could recycle water! It's like owning a very small water park but instead, the water is used for power Or maybe you could use balloon power(Like that will ever work)

hydraulic oil can build up better pressure than water, that's why they use it, and it can be recycled too...

hmmm this whole steam concept...it's almost like It's been around since the industrial revolution! wow funny how that happens. People with the hydro launch Idea: Good Idea, its called a masterblaster...just with rafts For the people who are still hooked on the idea that we're going to harness it to use it- Once we figure it out, it'll still be alongggg time before prices come down enough to even consider doing it, I'm thinking the storage cells would be enormous to store all the solar energy. Some of you arn't getting that solar power is not available all the time, and is not completely reliable. Launches take up enormous amounts of power, on a strike of cloudy days, they will run out and the last thing a park wants to do is have an unreliable ride. For the radiation people-My uncle owns 3 nuclear power plants, 2 waste processing plants and a fuel plant. I think I know what i'm talking about when I said with the proper shielding and engineering, a nuclear launched roller coaster could be a very wise investment. Your microwave gives of radiation, huge radioactive waste containers are transported on flatbed trucks every day, as well as the operation of these plants on a 24/7 basis, and only a few accidents in the many decades does NOT mean it's horribly dangerous. You're more likely to get killed riding your bike .

Well, almost all power is generated by water in its liquid and gas forms. Steam catapults work for the US Airforce on the aircraft carriers, why couldn't they work for a coaster?

There is nothing wrong with nuclear powered coasters. If they are engineered properly then they could launch coasters to a whole new speed.

exactly, nothing is wrong with using liquid powered launches, and people don't realize how extremely efficient nuclear power is. Very little is needed to give massive results = reliable

yeah, but you are forgetting the main thing of nuclear power plants, they produce radio-active waste, and i dont think SF or CP will like it if greenpeace is barricading their newest ride...

About the whole nuclear power thing for a ride. Are you guys talking about a reactor being used to provide electcity for the ride, or are you talking about using the fusion reaction to propell a train to unfathomable speeds. Becuase ahhh if its the latter, I wouldn't want my favorite park to build one only after they launch if the first time the whole park gets blown up.

If you are talking about providing electicity for the ride, theres a reactor thats about a 30 minute (probably less) drive from CP and I'm sure other reactors provide power to other parks.

If you were going to use a single reactor to power a single ride, it would be a waste, plain and simple.
