(11/24/10) Is there a glimmer of hope for Son of Beast? Well????????? not for 2011, but according to an anonymous source who was at IAAPA last week, they claim to have overhead a conversation between someone from Cedar Fair and the Rocky Mountain guys about possibly doing work on Son of Beast in the future. Of course this may be every coaster fanboys dream rumor being talked about as well... so take this with a grain of salt until we hear something more serious.

Not sure they can do much with that super spread out layout... Should be interesting to see how it changes...
Boulder Dash was the only good roller coaster.

SOB is not worth investing anymore time and money in. Knock it down and start over.

It could go from the worst coaster in the world to the best coaster in the world.... it would be a great decision by cedar fair, and would cost a LOT less than tearing it down and replacing it...

If you did the math with the feet of track, son of beast will cost about 15 million in rehab. That would be 45 million dollars put into that ride.

15 million in rehab is pretty good...

I305 cost 25 million. If they wanted to build something like that, they would have to pay that PLUS demolition.... demoliion of the largest wooden coaster EVER built.

If all they wanted to do was get it back in operation all they would have to do is treat the bottom of the rose bowl and maybe a few small spots. overall the ride is not bad at all. I'd say 1000ft of Iron Horse minimum. but I would love to see some new elements added to the ride. soo much wasted potential.

The general manager is not pleased with the rides performance. They retracked the rosebowl and worked on the ride continuslsy. 1000 feet is nothing compared to 7000 feet. Rather see the whole ride rehabed.

I'll believe it when I see it. First, I wanna see how the TG works out before anything is considered. Second of all, SoB is a piece of crap anyway, so why spend another 15 million (or something like that) on rehabbing it, when it'll take a lot longer than a year to do the whole thing. If they did rehab it, I'd rather them do several parts, AND bring the loop back in. Because the loop, even with the crappy ride was absolutely awesome. So for me, in short, I'll believe it when I see it.

I don't think they plan on getting rid of it, and with the track, it would be pretty awesome. Best option for the park.
