Use the auto-flanger. I have never actually used it, but I'm sure it's pretty simple. I'll let someone else give a more in-depth instruction. The one time I tried flanges, I did them completely custom, and they came out TERRIBLY. So don't do that [lol]

You open Auto-Flanger, select the track, click "add flanges" or whatever it is, then save it. I know, it's real complicated, but you'll get the hang of it. [lol]

If you do try custom flanges, make sure that your flanges are tubes 1 size larger than the main tubes. In other words, flanges on a medium tube should be a large tube, etc.

The Auto-Flanger is a great tool, especially when it comes to saving time and frustration, but it does have a couple drawbacks. The first is that some of the flanges are not aligned properly with the tubes, so you have to manually align them. The second is that this tool often inserts more flanges than necessary, which isn't a big deal if you're not picky. However, if you like severe attention to detail, this may aggravate you.

If you use Tia's construction kit, you can set all the options such as spacings and amount yourself.

And to realign all the flanges, either lower the land or raise everything 0.3 meters.

Use the auto-flanger tool if you want to acheive very unrealistic flanges, very quickly. The auto-flanger tool places flanges near the end of each an every support beam you have already created, which is almost correct, but not entirely correct.

The reason supports have connections is to do with manufacturing capabilities and transport capabilities. A transport lorry can only carry a length of beam that is 35ft long for example, so every 35ft along the langth of your supports a flang should appear. But also, wherever there is a connection between supports and one of the supports comes off at an angle, the support coming off at an angle must have a flange near the connection point.

Most people wouldn't bother going into that much detail though, as it's not all that important unless you're pretty anal like me [lol] so in truth the auto-flanger generally will suffice.

I like to do them by hand. It isn't really that difficult but there are limitations to it.
