Newton 2 and FVD++, the main FVD editors out there, are very powerful and take far less time to create high quality track once you learn how to use them. FVD++ also features geometric sections where you specify the rate of pitch/roll/yaw of the track, allowing for accurate Arrow/old-fashioned kind of rides. Both programs also "know" the speed and G-forces of the train at any given point of the track, as well as the radius, and can even visualize them for you; very useful. Almost no math is directly involved with the user, just some concepts.
