Yesssssssssss the wait is almost over. I cannot wait for this program. So much joy to be had.

-This is no game anymore, we are targetting realism

Program, not game [;)]

I'll have to see the full feature differences for pro before I decide, but I will most likely go for pro too

Agreed, I would have to see the full set of pro features before I would decide which to get.

The pro version is likely just going to be an excel or cad/solidworks import. You guys won't need it.

I'm probably sticking with the standard version for now at least. That would leave more available money for Christmas shopping. Unless there are more pro-exclusive features, higher quality videos and screenshots to me doesn't sound like it would justify paying over twice as much as normal.

I want to see if you can release the train as the track switch is starting to rotate. Can you crash the train when it hits the track switch while it is halfway rotated? I hope that they update the crash wording when the train reaches the end of the track. Like maybe the train makes a horrible clanging sound when it crashes.

Just in time to celebrate my finals paper which is due to next Tuesday. And just in time to ruin me for the actual finals in March.
La dolce vita.
All RCCAs should be RMC'd. And that event shall be henceforth known as the Rollercaust.

That with the scripting and the insane amount of free time some people seem to have!

That may be true as well, I guess we will see a full list of differences upon release

The high quality screenshots and video export is likely some kind of non-realtime maya type rendering.

I'm thinking the Pro version might be for the Amusement Parks but this time Ole is making the Amusement Park Exclusive version in NL1, open to everyone in NL2.

Let's see now ... with NL2 coming out, and with the bigger environment, I'll have to expand and raise my New River Bridge to around 900 feet high. Wonder what the speed on my steel coaster will be with a 900 foot drop?

Edit: Just Joking. But I did hear that the environment will be larger with NL2. I don't know how bigger it will be but we will see. I could use a little larger environment for my model of the Kings Island Racer.

I think it's a fairly general statement, though. When you specifically start reading the actual requirements for the software - a decent laptop will still run the game nicely.

Damn I need a new computer for this. Can't wait to start building again. I wonder if they will have wingriders at release, if they don't it will surely be added in an update. It's going to be interesting to see how active this site will become when it is released.

Well just look at this thread, more posts in this thread over the last 2 days, probably, than in the other threads put together, in the previous 2 days.

Just for a quick thought experiment, Trackwalker...

m*g*h=1/2*m*v^2

I have to guess on "m", but the internet says that a single car weighs between 400 and 600 kg, so let's say 4000 kg for an average train.

so

4000 kg *9.81 m/s^2* 274.32 m = 1/2*4000 kg* v^2

and

v=73.36 m/s, or about 164 mph. (is it just me, or does that seem low)

But that's without air friction.

For that, I need to make more assumptions. Says the internet, a rollercoaster train has the approximate dimensions of 1.2 m x 1.1 m. So A= 1.32 m^2. Also the drag coefficient for a long, streamline body is .1, so assuming slightly less than optimally smooth, let's say Cd= .15. Finally, the density of air is normally around 1.2 kg/m^3.

Now, I don't feel like doing differential equations, but the research is done, for anyone who wants to continue.

With friction it works out to around 159 mph. It seems low, but what you're forgetting about is terminal velocity.
