Piff Oscar. You and I both know what he was - and his money bought him out of it and made everyone look the other way. There is no way the people close to him didn't know what he was doing or what he was up to; and again ... his money (that people like you and I gave him) paved the way. In this case - sure he did alot for charity; but to molest innocent victims makes all his work meaningless and empty.

He was a weirdo due to the way he was raised. If you were raised like he was, I am sure you would turn out weird as well.

I am not sure that everyone looked the other way. If everyone looked the other, he wouldn't have lived the tormented ridiculed life he lived.

As far as me giving him money, ha! I never bought a cd, tape, dvd or whatever else he made. As far as his money making people look the other way, well it might be news, but that is what the accusers were after. Give them what they want so they could shut up already. He was the perfect victim of accusations of that nature.

As per your last comments, the same can be said about the soldier who wrote what he wrote. Isn't there a commandment that goes something like You shall not murder/kill? You could say that makes their life meaningless as well.

Was that a dumb reply, yes. Just using the same logic you are using [:)]

By the way, look up what the acccusers said of MJ said after his death. Maybe you will see the truth.

Okay, I need to rant.

I disagree. Here is why-

1) US service men and women are part of a unit, just as firemen and policemen are their own units. I believe that most Americans have been in mourning for the losses of this unit for several years now. We also mourned the loss of our firemen and police officers during the 9/11 attacks. We mourn for the units, not the individuals.

2) We are reminded in the news on a daily basis about our losses in Iraq and Afghanistan. We have been reminded for several years now. We also have at least two national holidays so that we can reflect on what these units have sacrificed for us.

3) If it wasn't for our huge losses in Iraq and Afghanistan, I believe that McCain probably would have won the election. Many Americans voted for Obama because he promised a quick end to the war in Iraq.

4) Michael Jackson didn't sign up for duty, knowing full well he might die from this duty.

5) It's my opinion that any soldier who feels like this guy does should probably take a moment to re-evaluate why he joined the military in the first place. Did he do it to serve his country? Or did he do it to become a hero?

Anyway, that's my opinion on this soldier's rant. I'm not even gonna go into the whole MJ weirdness crap again, since I've already stated my opinion on it.

I agree with the soldier because:

1. Michael had it made since he was like 5? What about the guy who busts his a** every day trying to make a living? Or the soldier who gets shot at every day? Since I've had to grow up in a sh*tty neighborhood where they throw dynomite for fun.... right out side of my house.... in my driveway..... while i'm outside playing basketball.... but thats not the point. People who actually fight for a living never make the news, never get a moment of silence, never get thought of.

2. Michael Jackson let small children sleep in his bed, other people's children. Why isn't that against the law yet? And doesn't anybody remember that the small boy that he touched actually had cancer? If he went to jail, he would have been killed for being a child molestor. EVERYONE would have been happy. Don't deny it, everyone would have.

Thats my view

Kev, I will take your opinion as a small thank you for the right to be able to express it ... since I am a soldier who helps provide you that ability. As far as your last statement of re-evaluating oneself and considering why someone joined, well, I guess I can admit (on your behalf) it is very difficult to talk about this issue with someone who does not have the same frame of reference. That is, if you are not a soldier, you would never see it from a soldier's perspective. As far as I am concerned, this fellow soldier of mine hit the nail right on the head.

And by the way, I have volunteered to go to Iraq in October 2009 (if I can get the medical clearance to go). As far as I am concerned, there is no greater calling .... but to be quite blunt about it: singing and dancing is just not a reason for a nation to go into mourning.

Actually... YES, I do thank you and other service men and women for that ability. I have a lot of respect for people who decide to serve their country in the military, even if I don't agree with everything they have to say.

I do agree that the media has went a little overboard with the Michael Jackson coverage. But how is it any different than with anything else related to him over the years? He has ALWAYS been a news whore. If the guy hiccuped, the news would report it. He was supposed to be doing a big concert thing in London (I think this week?), and I'm betting he would have been plastered all over the news anyway if he were alive.

I still disagree with the gist of the guy's rant (thank you again for that ability). For one, I don't think it is anybody's right (soldier or not) to say who people should mourn over, or who deserves more mourning over somebody else. I also don't believe that people are callous/uncaring about the losses from the wars. There are many MANY people who DO care, and it's really sad if this guy (or anybody else serving) believes they do not simply because of what is being reported in the news. Hell, we probably all know at least one person who is over there right now. And I'm sure we all hope they make it back home soon.

Best wishes to you in Iraq, if you go.
