Edge, I was gonna link to that as well.
There is a serious point in that though, it really does bother me that there are large areas of mine own city, in which I have lived for my entire life, where I can't go without hearing someone talking in some form of Asian language or other. I'm all for diversity, but it comes to something when you walk down a road and a group of 5 people walk past you, talking a different language and laughing, whilst looking at you... I mean, what am I supposed to think of this? They're clearly poking fun at me in someway, but what am I supposed to make of it, if I haven't got a clue what they are saying? IMO, that's just cowardly. It's not just stuff like that however, it's everyday stuff. I have to catch 4 buses everyday on my route to and from work and everyday someone will get on the bus who just expects the driver to speak their language, the drivers feel pressured by this and usually just end up letting the person on for free, BUT it's not even likie the drivers are English anyhow, if they're not wearing a turban, it's because they're Polish and if they're not Polish or wearing a turban, it's because it's a woman and I'm not even gonna start on women drivers
Anyway yes, my point, somewhere along the line, before I started going off on one, was that if you go to a country to LIVE in the country, you should have the courtesy to at least make an effort to learn the language. Infact, the more I think about it, it should probably be a requirement for anyone who chooses to live in a different country, like a government policy or however it works...
