Which one should I get? I've narrowed my choices down to:

-Canon ZR500 (good for widscreen)
-Canon Elura 100 (also good for widescreen, but a bit more advanced)
-Panasonic GS180 (has 3CCDs for better color)

I really would not rather go with the panasonic because of how expensive it is for my current situation.

You pretty much picked it out yourself there. Canon Elura 100, its not the expensive one, and its just like the ZR500, but more advanced, and has more features.

We've had several Cannon's over the last 18 years, I really won't even consider anything else these days.

I'm gonna try and get out to best buy sometime soon (I've seen all 3 there), and I'm gonna take a tape with me and record a little bit on each cam to see what the end result will be.

my guess is that I'll like the video quality on the elura but the panasonic'll be sittin there and I'll just look at it and start reconsidering the elura

That's a good way to judge the videoing process. But to compare the quality you'll have to have something standard to play the tape on once you've got samples from all 3 cameras...

so, I went to best buy, and I took some video. I definately like the Panasonic better. It's gonna be about $50 more, but its worth it.

thats the vid I took. the first shot you see was taken with the Panasonic, the second with the Canon. I probly should've taken the same shot, but the color difference is obvious

Hmmm, looks like the white balance was hosed on the Canon. A shame.
