i only voted for kk b/c it does more than a tophat. but if you ask me, both of them probably suck. dragster is never open, and when it is its a 4 hour wait for a 10 second ride, i doubt kk will be much better even though the airtime on that hill looks great.

What is this for a stupid question, the only arguments for chosing TTD is that you are living near to it, like the colorsheme or because KK isn't finished yet.

Claps hyyyper, if you gonna act like a moron, try to make sense. Plus there are plenty more reasons to choose TTD over KK. TTD was the original creation, KK is just a lame rip-off with an extra hill and an extra couple of feet

btw. srry for the yelling, i dint notice caps was one, i'll edit my post

i agree. KK is better but still crap. More parks are not being very original. KK and TTD are basically the same. Except that KK is like 36ft higher and 8mph faster and a camel back.

It's a great difference,
still i must agree that SixFlags isn't very original with his coaster (see the batman B&M's), but what do you expect, a full circuit lifthill coaster of 150 m?, a bit to hight for a lift and afcourse a lot of money, and besides such a lift hill with 10kph is going to take a while (see steeldragon)

i'd only chose kk for the camelback. But still kk is a rip off. Alot of parks take catalog rides for some reasons, also catalog rides are much cheaper then those custom rides. At custom rides you need to get alot of devlopment that will cost alot more!

also hyyyper, you can build strata coasters with lift, just add a cable lift of 20 / 25km/u.

I'll be the first to vote for Top Thrill Dragster. No, it's not because I'm partial to Cedar Point... the reason is because of the theming, the ride area, and the fact that there are no trim brakes or OTSR's on Top Thrill Dragster.

The ride area is great... the midway running beside the launch, the dragster theme, the grandstand, the racing buildup, and "I'm Ready To Go" blasting over the station loudspeakers. The buildup is wonderful. What is the theme of Kingda Ka? A giant coaster in the middle of the jungle? Where is the christmas tree starting grid, the lights signaling a launch, and the great buildup?

Another thing to consider is that KK has over the shoulder restraints, and a trim brake on top of the hill. I love the whiplash negative g's over the top of TTD's hill, and the freedom of having only lap bars holding you in. The "feel" of TTD is just great.

Wtf? Why do people have to complain about Intamin's OTSR restraint? Their Rocket Coaster OTSR doesn't even touch your shoulders! God, will people PLEASE stop trying to find ways to degrade coasters? Its pissing me the love off.

I'm a wood freak and a hypercoaster freak, so I am just used to lap bars. Whether or not the over the shoulder restraints touch you, I still feel safer in them. I don't want to feel safe, I want to feel like I could fall out and plunge to my death. Airtime just feels better with no shoulder harnesses. On TTD, you can lean forward in the front car, and feel like you are falling straight down, unrestricted. I just love that.

i agree. on SROS @ SFNE, they dont have shoulder harnesses either but they do have modified lap bars so you cant fall out. i think KK should have these. shoulder hrnesses are just too.... claustrophobic.

Umm OTSR or any restraints dont restrain the air, negative g's affect your heart. The amount of "freedom" isnt as great, but nevertheless there will still be air. That trim at the top will barely be able to be felt, but still a letdown. I totally agree with CJD too, something about TTD just seems to much more..... natural.

I wish ever coaster company would just stop using over the shoulder restraints. what's the point? why not just use a good old lap bar (like on Apollo's Chariot) and seatbelt? Just as safe.

I wish enthusiasts will realize parks don't give a damn about their opinions.

Idiots.

Stop bitching and go have fun riding a coaster. Or are you incapable of that?

but the thing i hate about OTSR's, like on Rock'n'roller coaster, there is hardly any room to put your arms up. You get in the way of the other person. I suppose they are just Vekoma's/Arrow's restriants but B&M are much more roomy. But i do like the old lap bar!

I don't think it particularly matters whether a ride has OTSR's or not, the ride still does the same thing doesn't it? Why are you all so quick to look for ways in which to degrade coasters? Why aren't you faster to point out the good things about a coaster? Not sure if you are enthusiasts, you don't sound very enthusiastic to me. I agree though that I prefer a lap bar because of the extra room you have, but you have to understand that it was the designers choice to have OTSR's so there must be a reason for them.

totally agree [:D]

Park dont care about a few enthusiasts saying it should have lap bars cos you get a tiny bit more airtime. They care about their safety record and as it happens Intamin have had a few problems with lap bars so OTSR's are the logical choice. And BTW like someone has said the OTSRs dont even touch yor shoulders on the rocket coasters so you still get plenty of air. Ride rita and you will see! [:D]

More then any thing else i would like to see a rollercoaster over 500 feet with a traditional lift hill. This is what made Millenium Force so great. BTW enthusiasts opinions are vital to a park. When building a new ride the park looks around to see whats popular and succesful.

yeah that's true, and i'll a cost a lot of money, if you have aan 500ft high(Y-direction) coaster your lift hill is 1000ft long (X-direction), and kk and ttd have a very short X-direction because there vertical.

They do look around to see whats successful. But they base what's successful on things other than what enthusiasts preferences are. For example, I'm sure most enthusiasts prefer Thunderhead over Superman: The Escape, but a corporate park would probably choose to build S:TE over Thunderhead if they wanted to attract more people to the park. All they would have to say is that it goes 100mph and is 415ft. tall and most of the GP will rave about it.
