I've got several spots on my layout so far that technically will fail a tunnel test, but the two tracks that come close are angled away from each other AND my trains have OTSRs, so in real life there would be no way that you could reach out and hit anything.

Is this still considered a tunnel test failure?

then get yourself something that 3ds-izes your tunnels. Like CK or TunnelCreator. It goes back to the tunneltest-proof tunnel from 1.5. The 1.6 tunnels are a fraud

Unless such things are available for Mac, that advice does me no good whatsoever. I'll just go by common sense and if it's obvious that nobody is going to be able to reach out and hit something, then it will stay. It's not like I'm going to win this thing anyway, I'm just doing it for fun.

If all the supports/track are out of reach then you wouldn't need to tunneltest, tru. But you could allways ask someone who doesn't have a make to tunnelize your ride

^^^ seriously, it's not worth that much trouble. My track isn't going to come close to winning and I'm just in this for the fun of the challenge. As long as I like the ride I submit, that's all I really care about.

Thanks for the suggestions, though.

X-car is just too simple. They're inversion after inversion, and like Archi said that's just too simple.

Well, that's kinda dumb, seeing that the NL Tournament doesn't even start until after this contest is already over...

^ I think it would be helpful to the judge, but IMO it is not required. (He could just save the whole thing as an element and implement it into the one with the boundaries).

ah man, i completely forgot about this. I've only got a couple weeks left. It's a tough template. I'm big on my layout, i like bends between loops and elements which flow. It's tough.

Has anyone finished yet? Trackwork anyway?

I've got all my trackwork and about 75% of the supports done. This coaster is probably my favorite one that I've made so far, I'm looking forward to seeing what else gets turned in for this contest.

I don't think I'm going to make it in time. Right in the middle of everything, I got a buyer for my loft. We close this week, so I've been having to pack, find a new house, PLUS work 12-14hour days at work during Christmas rush.

Nothing like a little stress at the holidaze!

But try to. If too many people don't post their ride in time anyway, perhaps I postpone the 'deadline'.

Not sure how the future of the contest is looking, but whether or not it's actually happening, here's my entry:

I'm still in, and it looks like I may actually get my coaster done for a change. I still haven't quite mastered the art of making looping inversions with FVD, though, so my track is going to be about half FVD, half hand-built. So far, I've got 5 inversions done, 5 to go, and still gobs of speed for some good ol' fashioned coaster mischief-making. If everything goes as planned, I'll be adding some underground tunnels and some kickin' original inversions in the second half. And since I'm on vacation, and have nothing better to do, I think it'll happen this time. Whee! Fun stuff.
