So, I was gifted a couple pounds of Venison. Anyone have some recipes to recommend? [:D]

You can make venison jerky with it... One of my friends makes it.
Oh, were you expecting something here?

These are 2 recipes I have tried in the past and worked really well.

Venison curry- I normally use about 4 nagas instead of the red chilli and a couple of bird eyes instead of the green chilli. I like a hot curry [:)]

Venison and mushroom stroganoff - This is a very creamy dish and is good with beef as well as venison.

I could pull more out of my bookmarks but these 2 stand out as what I would be making if i was given some.

Venison is good meat, I like it. Tell me, where abouts from the deer is your meat from? Because I really quite like mine just like you'd cook a regular steak, depending on which part of the animal it comes from of course.

I don't know from which part of the deer it is from. [:(]

Chop onions and fry until soft.
Add diced Venison and cook until brown (sealed).
Add a pint of Ale, dont know if you get Ale where you are but any other beer might do and bring to the boil.
Add some form of gravy thickener and season with salt, pepper and a splash of red wine. Carry on cooking until its quite thick, like a stew.
Add to a deep dish lined with shortcrust pastry, top with pastry and brush the top with a beaten egg and trim the edges.
Prick the pastry so it doesn't explode in the oven.
Oven on a medium heat and cook until pastry on top is golden brown.

So you need onions, beer (preferebly Ale), and seasoning (salt, pepper, wine, whatever you like). You can buy pastry ready made and its just as good, and you already have your venison.

And that my friend will be one awesome and very simple British inspired pie.

Ok, I made me about 12 ounces of it to test out a recipe. First I boiled the venison with basil leaves, oregano, garlic and onions. After it was cooked, I drained it, heated a pan up, added a bit of oil, and popped on there. I then seasoned it with pepper, seasoning salt, garlic salt and lemon spice. I let it brown up a bit and then served it on a plate with some baby spring mix veggies and refried beans and man this was a very tasty lunch. It wasn't dry as I was expecting. In fact, it was just perfect! Below is an image of the venison after it was done. I will try out some of the other receipes listed above soon enough [:D]

Enough till it was cooked. I didn't time it, just checked on it periodically to see if it was cooked through [:D]
