Yeah, that most likely be the something you don't say. How about something like "it's really B&M-ish", or , "it's 99.89% like B&M Hills", just to avoid 20 pages of "why you shouldn't" or "I have the right to..."
Sometimes you gotta sacrifice a little bit of yourself to get the job done.
What picture? A picture isnt such a great guide. It can only give you so much information. If you had say, a blueprint with a sideview thats NOT taken with a camera lens which bows the image, then I could believe you when you say it matches a picture. Otherwise, Ill just say because you matched to a picture taken with a camera its going to be wrong from the get go.
I dont know, I would judge it based on forces and multiple pictures, not just a picture.
Be careful using images. Camera lenses bend pictures no matter what. Even a 400mm zoom is going to not eliminate that effect.
Second, unless the picture is taken EXACTLY from perpendicular and also far enough away as well as at the right height youll be off.
mathematically its perpendicular? Is it also the proper distance to avoid any distortion vertically or horizontally? is it taken from the right height? If the hill is some 230ft, then the picture would need to be taken at roughly the middle point.
Point is, you dont have a picture that meets all that criteria. No one ever does unless they have a blueprint which has NO distortion. Claiming its perfect from a picture is like me claiming im taller than Millennium Force just because the picture is taken very close to me, from below so distortion and perspective screws it up. Come on man, even POV's and riding it doesnt give you enough information.
If somehow you got blueprints from B&M, then Id believe you. But even then, replicating their designs is still crazy hard.
I think for sure your lead in from the lift to the top of the hill is way too long. I think you said you were using Newton for that part? You probably cant replicate it with Newton.
In my experience using video and every resource it looks like all the crests of their hills for ALL rides snap with a quick transition (but not without a lead) to a static radius. From there, the speed and angle determine the pull outs length and desired G Forces.
^ Why thank you. And to me, that drop is not perfect, the pull up I feel needs to be lower down in order to create as much airtime as possible.
Don't come up and to me and just say "Who do you think you are?" Your not the best designer I've seen, and until you can prove to me that you have more knowledge and understanding of a roller coaster than most of the good builders on this site, you get no respect from me. Newton isn't anything difficult.
So, my friend came up to me the other day and asked if I wanted a frozen banana, and I said no, but I want a normal banana later, so... yea.
Real is one of the best designers...one of my favorites, and miles ahead of almost all others. He knows what he's talking about, and definitely consider his opinion on rides when building. In the end they're your rides, but if you don't at least think about what he has to say, your ride quality probably won't be as good.
He is...and I had no idea where he was when I solely a member of Coastersims...he was like wingover, made a bunch of good rides, and posted on the forums once every 3 or 4 months (just making an analogy Real) now I know where he was.
Here!
Correcting arrogance, with FACTS.
You're awesome Real! [;)]
P.S. - i'm not kissing ass either lol.
"Don't be a disability"... yep, still keeping that.
Where was I? You guys confuse me! I was on both...look at what member I am on this site. Possibly one of the oldest ones to still come here.
And I think, to correct your facts, that my rides came out every 6 or 20 months. LOL Well, thats what it seems like to ME anyways. You guys have no idea how many hours I used to sink into my stuff. It was an addiction...
At the end of my CS stint I was going through a pretty turbulent personal time, so that may be why it seems like that.
However, my first 3-4 years, no. I was still more active there than here. But thats because I was still in school, no job and able to spend copious amounts of time on the internet. Now, full time job, school, etc. I still try to be helpful!
