The air will fix itself in a couple decades. They introduced the death penalty for environmental infractions there, and I would be very surprised if an equivalent of the EPA/Superfund programs the USA have isn't created there soon.
If not they'll end up with places worse than Lake Calumet in Chicago, which has had groundwater sampled with a pH of 13.4.
