This new track was spotted being built at the S&S plant. It looks a lot like the Steeplechase/Soap Box style track that Arrow made and it looks similar to the Maurer Spike coaster as well. I assume we will learn more at IAAPA.

Doubt there'd be a new Steeplechase style ride built. My guess is this is replacement track for either Knotts or Blackpool.

I thought Knotts' one closed years ago?
I know Drayton Manor's new coaster will be built by S&S, and will be a "first of it's kind". Could that be it?

It is similar to the existing Steeplechase track design. The track appears to bank at the bottom of the helix so I don't think it has weird wide trains or anything.

It's the right timescale for a well timed annoucement if it is. Alton are starting to ramp up their marketing department and with Track appearing at BPB I'm sure they will be too. It could be 1994 all over again just with 2 family coasters and hopefully an outstanding thrill ride in Icon.

This definitely looks like some kind of prototype. Maybe they're re-releasing the steeplechase type? Since they pretty much took over the arrow stuff anyway.

Here's the ride vehicle:

Could it be the prototype for this thing Universal is working on?

Hmm they're doing a good job, I know, but it looks a tad sketchy. Fun to see new tracks invented, though.

Well looks like it is a redesigned Steeplechase type ride.

I'm sure there will be tons of photos and videos from IAAPA from many different sources.

That explains a ton. I figured when S&S bought Arrow they'd get access to all of the plans.

I am a bit bummed they are bringing this concept back instead of the Arrow suspended, but hopefully they attempt that soon.

Would anyone buy a suspended though unless it could do loops?

I mean, if it's expo'd the day that I go, I will.
Ok but how desperate you have to be to voluntarily fly from another country to go to Thorpe?

I wouldn't be surprised if S&S is probably already working on that part. This was probably just easier to modernize.

I'm curious on the cars they are going to put on top of it.

^ Probably a lot more comfortable than the old-style ones (which hurt my back)!
Wonder if Blackpool PB will replace the Steeplechase's cars with the new ones? (hope so)
