I'm not in troll mode but I SERIOUSLY doubt that you'd have anything but horrible complaints for that ride because of what you consider to be rough and your um...softer nature.

I really have struggled to find anything that bangs your head around more than Shockwave did. It was known for ripping out earrings (get stuck in the restraint) and cracking its own loop practically every season. It had serious design flaws (MCBR entrance was BAD) which is why it was the first major Arrow looper to go.

Well, the change wasn't detrimental or anything, but it was always tradition for us (my family/friends) to ride Demon Drop before anything else when going to Cedar Point, and now that it was moved to Dorney... well that tradition went into ruins.

I also vouch for the no longer dueling, dueling dragons.

What really got under my skin this last year was Superman:Ride of Steel at Darien Lake being shut down because the idiot ride operators let a legless man ride. Therefore, the weekend my wife and I went, we couldn't ride. What got me even more, I found out that they opened it a few hours after we left.

^^^ There's a difference between a fun rough ride and boring rough ride. Mean Streak is rough, you can't even try to deny that in attempt to toughen up your skinny-pussy-as-hell image. Mean Streak does nothing but dip up and down and shake your neck and head.

Shockwave actually goes upside and has corkscrews, and I tend to love the Arrow rough...

Although Arrows are probably some of the roughest steel coasters out there, they seem to have an odd smoothness to them

Yes, they are smooth in a rough way. Also they can behave like B&M's on good days. Also Arrows are the most fun to watch off-ride. ShockWave was a very beautiful coaster.

You seem cranky lol.

I don't think you're quite getting the difference between that dippy little thing at Valleyfair and something much larger that was destroying itself. GASM and Shockwave were as similar to each other as the first half of Chang and Mantis. It was the badass prototype of the 3 mega loopers and it had to go first. I still have yet to find a ride where you have to space out your rides in 6 hour increments to avoid having the whole day ruined by a headache. This was a common issue and "trick" used around the park, which is why after its novelty factor wore off it never had a line even running only two trains. It was a neat ride, it just wasn't worth ruining your day over.

ShockWave was awesome and the bleeding ear story only adds to it's character. Go ride my rec of ShockWave go through the que and around the grounds and watch it run, then come back and try to tell me that it didn't have awesome Arrow swagger.

IF that que is accurate, which I have no reason to believe its not, then it seems like a waste of space. Feels like i could've been longer or pushed back against the coaster more

The ShockWave que, as well as the Scream Machines were both huge but believe it or not those lines would fill up and then spill in to the midway back in '88. There are some pictures where if you look real hard you can see that.

You realize it's spelled "queue", right? It actually took me a little while to figure out what you were talking about there...

Anyway, it doesn't surprise me at all that the old mega looper queues were full back in the day - hell, I even remember when Son Of Beast's queue was completely full all the time. I also remember when it wasn't. Same with TTD and MF: even though those still get long, they don't even come close to filling.

Back on topic: personally, I hated the new Space Mountain at Disneyland. Though I don't remember the original there all that well, I know the one at WDW like the back of my hand, and if it was anything similar, the new one sucks comparatively. I know this probably isn't a popular opinion, but too bad.

The only difference with the new and old space mountain at disneyland: They rid the giant red plant thing (which I loved) with a giant rock that you can't see cause it's dark, changed the lift hill's effects as well as the part where they take your picture. otherwise it's the same as the old one. I just liked the old space mountain's personality better than the new one. So I agree with you there.

But the new space mountain at WDW is pretty well done. Has a cleaner feel but keeps the same personality.


One demolition/alteration I was really upset about was Knott's removing Kingdom of the Dinosaur. I loved that ride so much and they just let it rot. Why?

I also am very bummed that Log Jammer is gone from SFMM. Great memories on that one.

Well I learned something new. I didn't know the Space Mountain's weren't clones scenery-wise in the USA.

I still feel bad for Canada since they got an SLC AFTER a B:TR clone. That's like an insult.

I would have to say the Big Bad Wolf removal at BGW. Although I am glad they are making a multi launch coaster in place of it because BGW is in need of one.

Really? See, I didn't know that. I thought they actually redid the whole ride, track, trains, and all. Good to know.

Back to the WDW one, I have to say that's worse; I forgot about it before. I can't stand the new Space Mountain at WDW. One of my favorite parts of it was being able to look up from the queue and see the trains darting around in the dark, plus when you were lucky enough to get a dueling run, seeing the competing train speeding towards you. With the remodel, they got rid of all of that! No more glowiness. Also, there are some really angry words I could say about the new queue organization and flow, but that's not appropriate for this thread...

They technically did get (almost) completely new track, Trains, and supports. Vekoma made all the new stuff, but the layout is exactly the same as it used to be. The refurb mostly kept the whole ride up to safety standards, while replacing (mostly) everything inside, and changing some effects.

Yeah, they're quite different actually. And you probably know this too but the layout of the space mountain at WDW is different too.

Sorry, I forgot to mention the entire track and train and supports were redone too (to be more structurally sound and whatnot), but the layout is entirely identical.

Now that I think about it I do really miss seeing the ride from the last zig-zag queue area before boarding. But they're trying to make the inside part darker for the riders.

Actually I just remembered that in the old DL Space Mountain line you used to be able to see inside as well. Before reaching the space station where you board there was a room with TV's that had the fake news channel and a huge glass window to inside the ride. Looked very awesome.

the removal of haunted shack from knotts berry farm, in fact the " amusement parkification" of knotts in general is depressing
