On that list, GTA, GTA 3 especially, I loved that game. But my favourite game is Pro Evolution 4 without a doubt, probably not something that's very big in America, if it's even out over there [lol]

Amen.
between the gravity gun and the freakishly real voice overs, HL2 is one of the best games ever made bar non.

But I do tend to play Battlefield 2 alot lately, Nothin like flying sorties in a F-35 while 63 other players are on the ground or in the air fighting to win. Its just a ton of fun.

There was no point in this topic because of its obviousness
Halo 2 is 'THE GAME'

That is the only thing on the entire planet that is more hyped up than this weeks CBS tv lineup.

Dont compare a PC game to a Console game. Thats one of the most ridiculous things I hear too.

Halo 2 is a great console shooter - most likly the best.

But does it stack up to a PC game that has tons more hours of gameplay and YEARS more work done to it? No.

However, HL2 multiplayer is in NO WAY comparable to Halo2. Even CS:S isnt a match because its rampant with cheaters and the way Live works it stacks you against people of your own rank - unlike most servers online for CS:S. Not to mention that many maps on CS:S are completely unbalanced while majority of maps on Halo 2 are.

For single player, Half-Life 2 crushes all others. For Multiplayer, I havent found a game as fun to play with friends or online (for shooters) as Halo 2. Timsplitters 3 comes in a VERY close second but only because it features bots.

You cant compare the two though, its very unfair.

Honestly I am a PC guy. but I have played Halo and Halo 2 enough to realize that although both are solid games, Halo 2 wasn't that much of an improvement on Halo 1. Between the two, Halo 1 was a more complete game. I beat half of Halo 2 in just 3 or so hours (never finished it becuase I was at a friends house I know I was halfway done becuase I say the total levels in his profile and I had half of em) but you even play as two different people and the games still very short. The game is moreless a glorfied patch or expansion pack than anything. Dual-Weilding weapons was a feature that I could never get used and I rarely found a good use to it, mostly becuase I probably prefer grenades more than the average player.

As for the multiplayer in HL2, CSS has its disadvantages becuase of the cheaters and its ruthlessness toward new ppl, but then thats all about the right servers you are in. I'm gonna have to disagree with you about the balance in CSS maps. I have seen maps where the Ts almost always win, but then again I play that same map the next day and its the CTs winning. Its about the team you are on. CSS maps are alot smaller and choke point orientated. Halo 2 has a little more freedom of movement in the maps. HL2 Deathmatch is quite fun and is very crazy with use of the gravity gun. Try out the mods Plan of Attack and HL2: Capture the Flag, those are some pretty great team orriented mods.

I have alot more fun with N64s Goldeneye multiplayer though, its just so much fun.

But BF2 is probably the best game for wide open multiplayer battles right now.

I would say this topic is pointless, cus there are many other games that are not on the list that people like, and there is not enough room to put a lot of the games on a poll. You only have a few to choose from, you should probably pick like two or three of each systems best games or something like that. These are just games you picked out. Just ask what their favorite game is and on what system if its on more than one.

Is that all the games we have in the world? I think your poll is a wee-bit askewed with FPS (first person shooter) games. Let's see if we cannot expand our horizons a little bit, shall we?

I played CS from beta 6.5 up to CS:S. So that gives me like, 5-6 years of playing. Im very aware of the maps. Ive played maps most people didnt even know existed and the problem with the game is like you said "Choke points". If you control the choke point, you control the game. Also what kills the game is the ability to let people switch teams.

All that ever happens is you get a bunch of really good people who cant stand to have their online stats ruined so they jump from the bad team to the good team and then SLAUGHTER the crappy team. 6 years of that was enough to know it happens at least 80% of the time. Very few maps allow for a crappy team to actually come back to beat a better team. Team stacking is one of the biggest pitfalls of the game next to cheating.

I was also in a clan for about 4 years, local and we played in several online ladders and a few local tournies. The LAN's were the only "fair" games Ive ever played. With the ability to customize your settings in CS right down to your packetloss settings and such people are able to customize how much they lag in relation to you as well as how much they dont. I have seen people use this to their advantage when they report a ping under 80 but to you they lag like a 56k. They see you in normal 80ms lag so that means they can shoot you but you see a warping character flying around. Impossible to hit.

Ive seen just about everything that can happen in CS. If youve only been playing since Source or even since it went "Official" with 1.0, you missed out on the BEST years of the game when cheating was low, people played fair and there wasnt a million and one ways to gain an unfair advantage over the other.

Im still a PC gamer at heart but not online. Its WAY to easy to get caught up in an unfair game and thats not fun. Theres way too many servers to try and pick the right one every time. You are very lucky to find a 1 or 2 servers that are moderated 24/7 and are governered by fair people.

As for Halo2 dual weilding, you just need the right combo. The good combos include: Pistol - SMG, alien pistol - SMG, dual plasmas and thats about it. Im a grenade freak too but it doesnt work all the time. Actually, the best combo so far is use the Alien pistol to take away shield then bust out the Battle Rifle and headshot - boom gone. Very, very effective.

I can't remember what version it was in when I started playing CS, but it was sometime during the Beta.

CS really does lack any natural form of balance to a game. Its all based on the opening gambit move, whoever wins that generally wins the rest of the matches. You as a player have to save up to get a nice rifle if your not playing well, which could take several rounds. So the flaw of the system has to be that money governs who wins, and whoever wins gets the money. Money systems by themselves, I think is a horrible idea, but joined with other balance systems, makes for a great game.

One game that had the money system coupled with other balances in it that I really loved was C&C Renegade. All players had a constant source of income, they also got income with the more they killed, there was a class system which you used the money you got to get a better gun/character, and then you could use money to buy a tank. The game was for the most part pretty fair and balanced.

Thats what Im talking about. The first minute is crucial and only the best of teams/players can outdo that first minute. If they get to the "hold" area first and take out a few of your team, you better be very sweet and very organized to even think about coming back.

There are a few balanced maps that even with the other team having rifles and you pistols and rifles you can overcome but its too streaky. You go 5 rounds getting your butts kicked hoping that on that 6th round, with everyone suited up, you will win. Because if you dont, its back to square 1 and you lose your money and they just keep padding it.
