What bands and musical styles are you guys (and gals) raving about as of late?

For me I seem to have a strange obsession with Alice In Chains and Mad Season, the song Social Parasite in particular. At the moment I seem to be listening to Alice In Chains back to back

(try to name as little number of bands as possible)

I've really been getting into Mastodon lately. They just put a DVD out and they are amazing live, gotta wait a few more months 'til they come here though.

Well, I'll post some of the more less-heard of bands I'm into as of late.

Placebo-Only Where is my mind (Pixies cover), Pure Morning, and Song to Say Goodbye. All of those songs are pure brilliance.

Meshuggah-Always have loved them, I'm a big fan of tech/math metal, and they are easily the best tech metal band out there, their amazing offbeat timesacales and musical talents make them unmatched IMO.

The Number 12 Looks Like You- Their vocals are pretty poor, but like Meshuggah they use stunning timescale variation and have some of the kost amazing guitar/bass segments of any band around IMO. Also, they are very unique which adds to their appeal for me.

Shellac-A solid band that is unique and catchy, with great riffs and variation as well as some of the best vocals around IMO.

The Apex Theory- Nothing too special, but they have a unique style, solid vocals, and some catchy guitar riffs, and overall it comes together quite nicely.

Children of Bodom- Great riffs, solid songwriting, and an excellent drummer make Children of Bodom a superb band IMO, and while I never have been a fan of the useless screaming with weak lyrics and no music contribution, I still find Children very pleasing to listen to. And theyre Finnish as am I. [:D]

Full Scale-Just a great band that many fans of different genres could like IMO. If you enjoy alternative, metal, or any other similar song style I'd recommend checking them out.

There are a few others as well, but these are my current favorites.
And as far as style is concerned, my favorite musical style is tech metal, followed by progmetal (a la SOAD) and techno/industrial metal. I tend to like a ton of other genres as well though, just not as much.

Bloc Party. Definitely my favorite band out there right now. I just love every one of their songs, and they are definitely have a style that is original and very upbeat. I'd recommend it to basically everyone.

Honorable Mention:
Ben Harper
Dave Matthews Band
Death Cab for Cutie
The Fray
Guster
Syd
Throwback

Ah yes, Trivium is another great band. They are underappreciated because some people hear the screaming and assume talentless metal, but they really have some of the most amazing songwriting and musical talent to be found, and some of the chord combos they play are purely genious.

Hawthorne Heights play good music, the screaming is kind of off putting but they're still awesome.

Although at the moment, i cant stop listenin to Creed - 6 feet from the edge. I used to listen to it all the time and stopped listening to it, but then 3 of my friends performed it in whole school assembly and they were so good, and i remembered how much i love that song! So yeah, im back listening to it again [:D]

Oof...I think I can rightfully say I'm the only 'noise' fan here...[:(] somewhat of a good thing. Trust me, you'd all hate it.

1] Wolf Eyes
2] Smegma
3] Metalux
4] AIDS wolf
6] Whitehouse

But on a lighter side...I actually like Of Montreal, Arcade Fire, Wolf Parade, Neutral Milk Hotel, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. [now that I think about it, that's a big gap between my music tastes[|)]]
