What happened to the ratings?

making voting accesable for ppl with +... posts?

No, some builders are posting here,but their tracks and knowlege about NL suck.

And some people are skilled with NL but dont Participate in the Forums

this is what i am talking about,some people wont send a track in because there afraid they will get a bad rate.be cause it was not 100% smooth or the supports are not custom(some people make great supports some do not)or even a original desien.the fact is there are a lot of people who have great coaster desies,but have poor nl,sm,hr or any other sim building exsperiance.we all stared at the bottom and got better! but we need a rate system that caters to all builders exsperenced or not !another fact is if we insult these people they probely wont send in a track to rate witch in return will hurt the coaster sim manifactures and sites like weeweeslap cs ect...i seen some post that says give sugestons lets start a thread with real, honest,and civl ideas

I'd agree with Fn's idea in the rating poll, just change the originality category for layout.

what also could be nice is if the rating categories depend on the category it's uploaded:
so for the realistic category you really get like:
- technical
- adrenaline
- layout
for the recreation like:
- accuracy
- adrenaline
- ...
and for the fantasy:
- originalty
- adrenaline
- ...

What do you think about that idea?

yep... ost of the rides that are really smooth, as far as no limits goes, don't have an edge when it comes to looking realistic, no limits isnt rct , but people feel as if they should build rides the same way. some of the rides that have gotten really high scores lately are simply a series of pre built elements(however built) snapped together and connected, with more effort put into getting them to work in the sim, but when looked at as a whole the hills look spikey and the layouts don't neccesarily reflect the realism that some less smooth rides provide.i'm not talking about "tools or no tools" i've seen some good rides that have incorporaated the use of tools, but for the most part i'm noticing a whole new group of no limits users that focus more on technical "perfection" rather than a simulated rollercoaster experience. alot of the reallllly really good builders won't even post their rides here anymore because the focus has shifted from rollercoasters to computer skills. shame...

as first, turn off those annoying caps! as 2nd, that 4th category could also be nice, but smoothness = technical. So why seperate them?

anyway i think the problem in the rating system in not what we are rating, but it's like this

it doesn't matter where you give the triple 10 for, the n00bs just give em

the problem IMO is that the rating are not really constructive comment, rather shout outs that overate the track

IMO the solution is to get rid of the rating system, let all the comments post in the forum, and set up a vote at the end every week...

those 10-10-10 arn't a big problem. One post in the complaint area, wait a month and they are gone

We need another moderator, who could take care of the complaints...

Don't they have enough moderators here already? If not, I'd be willing to lend a hand. Like I stated before though, the rater needs to be pm'd and asked to revise a one line rate. If it's not done then the rate should be removed. Simple as that. Perhaps a character limit on the comments is possible too, perhaps no less than 200 characters required in a rate or the rate automatically becomes invalid?

I think its odd that the highest rated upload on the site has a smiley face for a description, and the other rate (highest is tied at 10) is a very nice coaster (Hulk recreation) and deserves a good rate but not 10.

The only ACTIVE moderators that I know is Fornication Nation and CJD, and then only 2 active admins: wws and edge. The rest, never really seen here anymore...

those others left the site or only post once on a year...

maybe a suggestion,

just make like 20 of the daily visiting posters a semi-mod status, they'll get an email every week which contains all the ratings made in that week on the coasters they are 'responsible' for, and they can validate the ratings...

wait.... HOLD everything....... i've got an idea... how about this.... for FREE we can post a ride, and have it rated , without eligibilty for a number rating or a medal;explanations ONLY.... for an extra____ points we can post a ride eligible for a number rating. this would separate the "rollercoaster building is fun" group from the "mine's better than yours" group. any of us with a rateable coaster in that week's posts will not be allowed to post number rates, thus limiting the raters to those who cannot be accused of having a conflict of interests. imagine how much awesomer and challenging it would be to score medals when your competition were all people who'd paid ___ points to post something they thought was really special. Also you'd know the rates came from non-competitors.....
