it seperates the memory into what the space is to be used for. Reformatting is when the drive is totally obliverated and then everything on the drive is deleted permantely.

yess i know my spelling is whack but uhh i am tired and i can only type with one hand.

hope i helped

Just so you know. It will erase absolutly everything on that Hard drive. That means if there is any valuable data on there, BACK IT UP. It will be lost. Also make sure to have your windows installation disk or else you won't have an OS.

Just curious, did they give a reason as to why Itunes needs a reformated harddrive? I have never heard of such a thing.

"iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." That happen before iTunes even opens.

Try downloading itunes from Apples web site and installing that version instead. I've never really had problems with itunes not working. So give it a try.

Hummmm. Well, I hate to say it but you might have to. As a last ditch effort, uninstall it, erase any files on your system that say iTunes. Restart computer. And try installing it again. Donno if that would really help but we shall se.

If your hard drive is split up in partitions you could always put a new OS on it and try that.

I cannot believe this was asked ... OK, here is what you do:

Click on Start
Click on Run
When the little box comes up type in CMD and hit return
At the prompt type in: FORMAT C:
Hit enter
When it asks you to proceed, type Y and hit enter

Be sure you have your Windows installation CD handy ... [lol]

Hope this helps.
