yea they had to take off a few of the brakes that weren't behind the wall (too far up to be shielded by the wall) on the hill so that people in line didn't get their hearing damaged.

Anaconda's lift is really loud too. if you're riding it and you wanna talk to the person next to you on the lift... don't try, it's too loud unless you want to scream.

Loudest by far (even more than Mantis) was UltraTwister at Astroworld.

You could hear it OVER the noise of the lift on Batman.... while you were ON the lift of Batman!!!

Wildcat(Hershey) is pretty loud when on the final brakes. It makes a series of squeling sounds right above the line and it almost makes your ears bleed lol

Kumba is rediculous for noise, i cant believe only one person has said it. I could hear it clear as day from the waterpark, and just about anywhere in the park.

Great American Scream Machine (GADV) makes a pretty horrid sound when it hits the Lift and the MCBR

Nitros lift motor is also quite loud and obnoxious.

It's not a coaster, but the S&S screamin swing can be quite loudly. Especially when standing in line near the "towers"

STE at SFMM is far and away the loudest....but Psyclone wins for most annoying, because the tunnel (which is now gone as Jay said) was possibly the 4 worst seconds of my life every time i had to experience it.

kumba isnt that loud really, but yes, i agree with an earlier poster about anaconda, you go down the little hill, then hit the lift at the bottom, and theres this awful clining, and then all the way up the lift its pretty bad too, so my two loudest have to be XLC at brake run, and anaconda-beginning of lift

the Stampida in Port Aventura is the most shocking coaster I have ever been in. It had a annoying start in the station.

the most painfull coaster was the Bandit, in Movie Park Germany. Wen I came out the coaster, I had pain on my back and butt. haha

Loudest i would have to agree with STE@SFMM, Medusa@SFGAdv, Batman&Robin the chiller@SFGAdv, Great American Scream Machine@SFGAdv, Sidewinder@Hersheypark (or any sitdown boomerang...those brakes give whiplash), Brakes on superdooperlooper @ hershey are loud and annoying, and of course the double enclosed helix of the Beast in kings island.

The Space Rocket top wheels squealed a lot around the back turn if the steel got dry. That's what you heard on the Blue Streak and the Mean Streak. I have also heard the Son of Beast squeal a lot as it rounded the final helix. It sounds like a whistling noise. And it also slows the train down. The steel gets dry and the top wheels squeal as the make the turn. Remedy: Clean the steel in the morning with a mixture of oil and kerosene. Few parks do that now because they either don't know how to eliminate the squealing or they just plain don't care. That's the noise that's missing on wooden coaster tunnels in the NO LIMITS simulation, basketballdude. That roar as the train goes through the tunnel. I have sensitive ears and after riding The Beast at Kings Island, my ears rang for 3 days. I would love to know the decible reading inside that tunneled helix. It's probably off the charts!!!
I know I'm completely off the topic but I'm now responding to what SMer said below about the gentleman who fell off the coaster because of grease on the track. I feel sorry for the gentleman who fell off the coaster and died. There was one rule we followed before walking the track in the morning. If it had rained during the night and the walk boards were wet, we never climbed up to the tops of the hills because the walk boards were very slippery. We just checked the track in the dips and road the train to check out the rest of the track. Also we never walked on top of the track if there was grease on the track. If fact, it's never a good idea in getting into the habit of walking on top of the track where there may be grease. That's asking for trouble. Keep your feet on the walkboard and your hand on the handrail. That's what they are there for. I have a video of Kennywood and it shows one of the maintenance men walking the track of the Thunderbolt and while they were video taping him, he slipped while walking down the walkboard and would have fallen had he not been holding on to the handrail. He was on the walk boards but they appeared wet. So do not, never, walk on wood that is wet. Even if it is laying on the ground or you will slip and fall. Just a word to the wise. I know that's off the subject of loudness, but I had to respond to SMer's comments below. [:D]

you have to do that every once in a while. and it's not because they don't know how or don't care. there was a mechanic who fell off a wood coaster and died because of the grease once. so safety plays a part in it.
