Why? I can't even hear myself talking when a train runs by and I'm within 100ft of it. I can be standing 15ft from an Intamin and still hear myself.

It's the design of the wheel assembly and structure as well. They make them loud on purpose. However, there are B&M rides that are very quiet as well.

Thank you. I was it was something with how their cars were made that is different from Intamin.

The sound bounces off the inside of the hollow square track, unless filled with sand.

Sometimes they fill the tracks with sand to make them quieter...

Kraken at seaworld makes almost no sound whatsoever. I could only hear it from like 20 ft away.

SWO has their B&Ms filled with sand for the most part, which is why the sound is mostly muffled for Kraken/Manta. Kumba just got brand new wheels on it, and it is now EXTREMELY loud.
Oh, were you expecting something here?

It also depends on the wheels. Certain manufactures sell different blends to produce certain sounds. People tend to think loud rides are moving faster then they are.

Kraken was pretty quiet now that I think about it.

Kumba was mildly loud, hopefully those wheels will be worn down by next time I'm back down there.

I remember when I took a trip to IOS, The Hulk was actually unbearably loud. It was damn near ear bleeding when it flew through the tunnel under the walkway, but on the other hand, at my home park, SFDK, Medusa is for the most part completely quiet.
So, my friend came up to me the other day and asked if I wanted a frozen banana, and I said no, but I want a normal banana later, so... yea.

^ Yeah... They want Hulk to be extremely loud.. While dueling dragons they had to make quiet because of the school right behind.

I always thought it would be so cool to go to that school :p just watch dueling dragons during recess haha.

The B&M roar is basically a trademark I LOVE IT, when walking to the entrance to Alton Towers from the car park and you hear Nemesis & Air roaring as they test in the morning, you know you're in for a good day

^ I don't think so.

It is sand. At WCB this year, the managers talked about how Tatsu had sand put in it, while Riddler's Revenge and Batman did not.

^yeah, whenever i visit SFMM, i hardly ever notice noise coming from tatsu, while you can hear riddler's for quite a distance.

On the other hand, you can hear Superman: The Escape throughout the park

I prefer the ride to be as loud as possible. That way when I don't hear it run for awhile I know somethings wrong.

Personally I still think Whizzer is the loudest ride I've been around and that doesn't even have a solid spine.

Holy poop he's back!

I don't remember how loud Whizzer was, beings it's been over a year since I've been there, but I do agree that B&M's are seemingly louder than most others.
