I am surprised GG has been getting involved with the smaller projects, Quassy and Grona Lund, they seem more of a "big project" company, still, probably better than CC could have if they were still around.

Possibly, but the sofa look of the MF feels more like a wooden chair compared to these. Plus the lap bars on these give you more freedom and since they are hydraulic, they dont clamp down as easily during the ride.

Ive never been on MF trains where the lap bars ratchet system wasnt really loose. Thunderhead, Both Lightening Racers trains were all identical. Very loose (dont confuse with unsafe...definitely safe).

The upstop wheels on those trains appear to be bending.


The reason the lapbars ratchet down on the Millennium Flyers is because the foam padding compresses in the bottom of a drop, and therefore the restraint notches down further.

Its as simple as the gearing inside allows for it. Nothing to do with the padding.

I rode Viper at SFGAm and it was a ratcheting wooden train and it had virtually NO play in the gearing system. It just depends on how tight they have the gearing inside the system. Nearly every PTC I have been on has had a different tightness to the restraint, so its something the engineers at the park set up.

Overly loose restraints come down to maintenance (or lack thereof). One mechanic is going to set them differently from another. They should have been properly trained, but you figure these guys have been doing it year after year, and little differences will start to form. I would much rather have the restraint get tighter than slip out of it.

I thought flyers didn't have return springs? And PTCs just have return springs that wear out which is why they vary?

Thats what i thought too. The reason MF trains staple is because they have nothing holding them up almost. They have either no or VERY weak return springs.

Yes! That looks rad. I guess I'll have to make a small pit-stop at Quassy on my New England trip. It's super close to Compounce too. Being from CA, this will be my first Gravity Group. I need to get out more.

On Gravity Group's Facebook, they said those hills will have some airtime too. I'm excited

What a perfect little family coaster. I definately like how nicely this one has turned out. Once the grass and trees have grown in, I think it will look quite nice!
