Working in the parks!

Hey! I know quiet a few of you work or will be working at parks in your area; or maybe even traveling. Where do you work? What do you do? Why do you do it?



I'll start! This summer will be my 6th summer working at Cedar Point. I have worked as a ride host for all 6 years and 5 of which as a Team Leader. This summer is different. In January, I took an audition with Cedar Point's Live Entertainment and won the position! I will be performing with a new show in the park (not yet to be announced). This means I couldn't return as a leader But! I received a call today allowing me to work in rides until my show starts! I will be working on Gatekeeper! So from May to early June you can find me at Gatekeeper. Starting mid June you can find me performing around the park! I love this industry and am very excited!

Wow, sounds great Dave! Too bad that I won't be visiting CP around that time this year.

As for working in the parks, the only job I have is enjoying the rides. [;)]

I dunno why people want to work in the parks so bad, you can still love them as a visitor lol.

seems like a fun job to me. certainly beats some other summer jobs

I'll be working at Toverland for the 8th year this summer. I will probably be operating Troy and the obstacle course.

I only work the lines, rides, and the food courts at parks. If I had to board riders on GateKeeper all day, I'd piss my pants with anxiety and jealousy.

Coasterdave, what kind of live entertainment performance will you be a part of? Some of the walking bands and staged performances at amusement parks are actually pretty cool.

It should be announced in March or April; but all I know is that it is an 'interactive midway brass band'... That's really all they told me. I'm gonna be one of the 2 trumpet players.

I wouldn't mind working as a mechanic/carpenter on wood coasters, because I have a genuine interest in that, but that's about it as far as park jobs I'd want.

I don't, which is why I'm not actually pursuing it.
