Mixed among this past week's many IAAPA related announcements was one of gargantuan proportions, namely the world's tallest StarFlyer ride to be built in Orlando. The StarFlyer will be a part of Vue at 360, which will be a dining/entertainment area located adjacent to the new I-Drive 360 complex.

The StarFlyer will smash the current 400 foot record by twenty feet, swinging riders 420 feet above the ground below. Looks like Six Flags will have to go a bit higher if they want the record back! Riders will be seated in pairs on one of twelve seats, for a total of 24 riders per cycle. Tickets for a ride are expected to be around $10.

The StarFlyer, and Vue at 360, will be just North of the I-Drive 360 complex, which will have the Orlando Eye observation wheel. You can see that new development under construction above, the shopping center (contain a steak house, dinner show and more) above it will become Vue at 360.

The entire complex is just south of Universal, and just North of SeaWorld, smack dab in the middle of the busy tourist trap along International Drive.

There's a chance the new ride could open at the end of 2015, but probably in early 2016. The StarFlyer will be manufactured by Funtime.

I doubt having a starflyer that is 10ft taller than the current one will make a difference. Also, there is like no landscaping in Orlando whereas there is a great view of mountains and CT river from the top of the NE one.

Perhaps they'll be able to see the other parks. Reminds me of the poster seen in one of the Marx brothers movies, "Join the Navy and see the Army."

Yes if you go on the skytower at seaworld you can see disney but not unverisal studios or fun spot due to building in the way but this you could probably see all the Orlando park if all goes lucky

I find the record height a bit of a waist. I have been on the one at SFNE and about half way up and over things look pretty much the same. I woudl have preferred a shorter tower that stayed up longer. That aside it's a fun ride but after waiting a hour and a half for it, It's very low on my re-ride list.

Lol I love NESS simply because it has a gorgeous view of the CT river. It's also great to make the seats twist a bit to freak out your friends

I'm not saying it's a bad ride just that if it was shorter the ride time could be the same but with more time at the top. NESS is in a spot so high that the tall trees are in the ground 25 some odd feet below the rides platform. So the extreme height is unneeded. The view is great but it's easier to take it in as it swing sat one level.

The bigger record breaking towers seem more of a gimmick then anything that adds to the ride. especially when a large chunk of the record breaking height is signage and flags not the ride itself.
