Would you still play RCT3 if it was in 2d (like rct2, don't know what that is? Stop being a graphics junky), but still have all the same features, new rides/scenery/tools/scenarions ect. without the coaster cam? I voted Hell Yes, cause this type of game just doesn't seem right in 3d.

What??? 2d is what limits gameplay, far more than coastercam. It's probably because you guys don't know how to use 3d cameras. (which are easy to use)

Nope, it's not that. This type of game really feels out of place in the 3d world.

You can set it to an isometric view for those who want rct2 style in a 3d world

I already know that. It's just not that fun, plus there's horrific lag.

I think it would look great in 3d if the roller coasters actually looked good. The developers of the game tried really hard to make the flat rides look really good, but then the roller coasters don't even look good, especially the vertical loops, which really confuses me. I saw in a faq for the game one time that the developers do not plan on making a "nolimits" style editor because it would be too complicated for the main audience of the game. A lot of the people who play the game probably don't even know the coasters are unrealistic.

I voted hell yes. Haven't played much RCT3, mostly because Chris himself hasn't mad the gams, but also because of the 3d view. RCT has alwasy been 2d and should always be IMO. It's something about the look in 2d that you don't get in 3d.

Oh yeah, I'm sure the advanced fireworks editor wouldn't. [hello]

Don't listen to those assholes, they're full of lame excuses. Even if they aren't able to make an NL style editor optional (which is impossible), they could've at least included the old support pieces, a track piece scaling system, 3ds import, etc, but they decided to include "diverse" peeps, not only is this not needed, it only lags the game even more. Of course, they only listen to the gay atari forums, which do nothing good to them. Not to mention how they've placed the track pieces (paricularly the 0 g roll) on the wrong coaster types, and didn't include it for the right ones, what a bunch of retards. And other than in RCT2, I never seen strata coaster rides (or something similar) launch from stations, come on, that's just lame and retarded. Obviously, RCT3 dev teams doesn't really care if it's simcoaster or not. (except for the fact that they use real coaster types, that's a start, but certainly not an end) Not to mention that they removed important coaster features, like entrance/exit stations, so now, our TTD recreations are going to be really messed up. (as if the launch from station didn't love it up enough) [lol]

Yep they spoiled the RCT series by:

-Giving the game over to Atari
-Making it 3-D
-Releasing crappy exspansion packs with wierd scenery and remodeled cars. IMO I would of liked a strata-coaster or something, but a limosine corkscrew coaster? Pure corniness.

So Yea, I voted they ruined it by making it 3-D. Lets not forget that they narrowed their audience a bit aswell by making the graphics so demanding. Even with low graphic settings on it lags considerably.

yeah, some one else besides me caught that.

There are several approches for lessening the 3d change. First of all, they should've kept the original look, second of all, the graphics really need simplification in certain areas, (particularly how everything has a texture, some steel track doesn't really need it, it just makes it look a bit nicer) Also, they should've made the isometric cam at the same angle as the original, not to mention how it culls out rides when you zoom in. As for 3d lovers like me, just keep the other cams (especially the freelook cam, I use it all the time)

IMO, if they keep it too much stuck to the original RCT, it's going to get too unrealistic, we still need advanced coaster editors.

But I realy agree about WW and TT, they should focus on realism, not theming (more like retarded theming)

Ya, they basically kept everything 2-D, like the track builder, but made everything else 3-D, it just dont work. They should of given as much freedom or at least some like in NL, but what they gave it BS IMO. Plus, its a tycoon game, its meant to be more of designing dream parks, or running a park, not a coaster simulator like NL.

i think the 3D junk ruined the RCT series. i mean, i got the demo and was very disappointed. the rides looked and moved strange and the ppl walking around gave me nightmares. THEY ARE FRIGHTNING!!! lol. just a few reasons why i play RCT2 and dont even consider getting Rct3. i think atari was just doing what all the other great games like zoo tycoon and the sims (however their sequels are awesome. the 3D is those games is actually REAL looking. i gladly own both of them,) by going 3D. maybe in the future a relese of a fourth RCT will return the lost graphics of a better time. well, that's if RCT3 lasts long enough to make a fourth. [flush]

IMO there is only one person that can make a good Rollercoaster Tycoon. Chris Sawyer. He don't whant to make it 3d, and we now know why. And he knowes what he is talking about. Every game is has made is great. But coasteragent99s solution could be a good one.
