Read a love history book. Both Democrats and Republicans have a LONG history of modifying the U.S. Constitution as well as enact laws/bills that are ABSOLUTE violations of the Constitution.

I find arguing over what is constitutional and what isn't is pointless because of current politics. Everything will change in the future just like it did in the past.

The New Deal under FDR was announced socialist by many, yet if Obama tried to end Social Security, chaos would ensue.

This country is a total disgrace to what it is supposed to stand for. Slavery, racism, ignorance, denial, persecution, homophobia, religion, corrupton... I can just list example after example of all the above and more.

This country makes me sick and makes me ashamed I am a citizen of it.

To be honest, after almost a year of Obama in command I fell like Reagan has been reincarnated as a black senator from Chicago. I wan't Clinton back in office. He might have been ordering porn on the white house TV and banging interns in his spare time, but hell the US Government was turning a profit.

No, I want an actual paragraph as to why I'm just "another teenaged pissant in a che tshirt". Failure to do so will just make you look like an ignorant fool. I spent a good time researching information for my post, and you probably spent 30 seconds coming up with a half-assed remark just to belittle it.

How about this, Jayman:

The fact that this clearly states what each citizen of the U.S. is entitled to yet is denied to many over our history and even today is beyong hypocritical. Laws have been passed designed to take away rights of citizens.

And you just say I'm being "fashionably rhetoric".

listening to rage against the machine isn't research . we all know those things happened, and none of us think they were " good" they were also all reversed. .
your suggestion that these are the things that characterize our country shows that you care more about whats " cool " to say than actual critical though. the great things this country stands for will never be overshadowed by stupid mistakes.

aside from the patriot act, which borders on a compromise of the 4th ammendment but may be neccessary in a time of war, which laws are you reffering to ? (current laws)

Rage Against the Machine? If I even knew what that was... My point being that those laws were passed because of current events that were happening during that time. I'm actually siding with Obama with this conversation because he's trying to help the country even if people cry foul. My post was meant to show others that the government has done things that were againt our rights before.

I'm not trying to be "cool"; I got over that after 7th grade.

What our country stands for is indeed a beacon of light to many oppressive countries, but the light being illuminated is covering up our own internal filth.

Thanks, Jayman, for explaining your resasoning. Now I can take what you said with consideration.

There are not really any current laws in effect that go againt the Constitution, but there have been laws passed before and possibly one day again. However, there are laws passed that go against the Declaration of Independence which in my opinion is even more troubling.
