Title says all

I was going to choose Joe Satriani, but im going for:

Pearl Jam

Edder Vedders voice is just awesome on every song and not to mention Mikes guitar work. They are no doubt the single best thing to come out of Seattle but i personaly would in no way call them Grunge.

My personal favorite is Greenday, I've just always liked them.

Rush is amazing...if you listen to the drums carefully, you can see how complex the beats are..they are simply ingenius, and I admire Rush very much btw, so back on topic...

I can't decide. Also, I have to agree that Nirvana is really awful. The lyrics make no sense, and the music just has no energy at all. It's depressing and hurts my ears. [:(!]

EDIT: Rush is cool. [approve] I just tried it out. [blah]

Level 42, hands down.

Mark King played a bass guitar unlike anyone I have ever seen before. He is one of the masters of the "slap" bass style, and to listen to the sounds that come from his Alembic bass guitar is truly an experience. Mike Lindup added his style to the mix which was very different from Mark's and gave the band it's unique sound. With the brothers Boon and Phil Gould and Wally Badarou (Level 42's unofficial 5th band member), they made some of the greatest and most endearing songs I have heard in my life. Great stuff, great stuff indeed.[approve]

The Beatles!

I may be a fan of 90's pop, but I have to give all of the credit to the band that practically invented the teen music genre way back in the 60's.

It's too bad the pop music of today can hardly be considered music, because The Beatles were an amazing band musically, and put together some amazing work in the studio. They are definitely up there among my favorites.

But my all-time favorite is none other than Led Zeppelin. Easily the greatest rock n' roll band ever.

Think it would have to be U2. (not into heavy rock myself), But I preferred their earlier material -The red rocks concert was stunning- through up til about 1989, -after the Rattle & Hum tour- because they went too "poppy". Current album's okay though..

Couldnt have said it better myself. Pop music is simply crap. Musically all the groups plain suck and infact dont/cant play any instruments. Take Britney Spears of example. Her songs or nothing but electronic drums and synthesisers

I Like mostly soft rock, my favorites would be: Maroon5, The Beatles...Linkin Park too though some songs are loud.

The guitar work in all of their (Maroon5) songs on the cd (Songs About Jane) is underscribeable...it's a cd you can just relax and listen too...unlike the loud bands like disturded, mudvane, slipnot and all of that....though i'm not knockin' them.....just too loud for me, can't heard half the things in those type of song.

And For all of you who are knockin' pop music......just because the music that most pop artists produce doesn't consist of a "live sound" doesn't mean it ain't good music...Britney may have electronic drums and synthesisers doing all of her music, but she's got talent, enough to have fans and platnium records, as well as Justin Tmberlake, Christina Aguleria and so forth..They all also worked hard to get where they are, and are constantly in the limelite, which is more than I can say for half of these bands that some of you have mentioned....I'm Saying this because I listen to Rap, R&B, Rock, Pop and some country....but hey, i guess every one is entitled to their opinions.

Yeah, fine, Britney Spears may be able to sing, but that doesn't mean her music (if you can even call it hers) has any real musical value, other than being damn annoying. I prefer bands who write their own music and can put on a real live show that doesn't consist of a bunch of dancers being the main form of entertainment. If you like this pop crap--I mean, music--that's fine, of course you're not alone, but it's just not the real thing to me.
