How many segments would you use for the AHG if the lenght of my track is 195.89 meters? (note my track isnt done yet)

100 or so. On my rides I generally use (track length in FEET / 6.5), then round to the nearest whole number.

I used to use 2.5m, but more recently I use 2m as it's much more precise. Also, if you're planning on fading the track it's better to have more segments so it gives more gradients.

IMO, depends on entirely on the complexity of the track. If theres track that you really want to be kept close to the original state for shaping reasons, along with a lower filter high a higher res of verticies.

Lower verticies and higher filters give smoother but more distorted tracks.

I've noticed that more vertices give a smoother ride for me Real. I see so many people that use relatively large segments which creates banking pumps. I've been trying to get MoonsaultFHorn to use more vertices, and now that he's started his rides have been getting a lot smoother. With lots of vertices rotations are perfectly smooth for me. I usually use around 5 foot segments.

Small segments with a high filter (250 or so) give a result that is very smooth and accurate to the original track put in. With small segments, the filter needs to be kept a lot lower so the banking doesn't start/end too soon, and that means the output isn't going to be as smooth as using small segments and a very high filter.

^^DCS, if your track is already VERY smooth, then yes. But if you have segments or transitions that are not so rough, you will need a HUGE filter with that high vertex resolution.

I was stating that sometimes you dont want a huge filter. Not all transitions in coasters are long and gradual so sometimes you need that lower filter and because of the lower filter your existing track will need to be pretty close to perfect.


So for you people who use the elementary, yes, high resolutions (I use it too) produce smooth results but only because the existing track there is very, very good.
